I'm not too precious with my poo poo just yet, send me a msg on soundcloud and I'll dropbox you the .wav files. That goes for anyone in here as well.

I was trying to have some of the other cats around here on em but for one reason or another they all dropped off. So I'm re-approaching the beats I have cause I still really like them/want to use them for something. sooo soon hopefully! I am actually going through some life stuff myself that's interrupting my schedule hard but it'll be over by the end of the month.

Just out of curiosity how many of you are using mpc's, computer-based setups or synths etc? If you are running mpc rigs do you bounce it straight out or as stems for arrangement? If you are computer based (I am) I really rate the JB Timemachine if you can find it, became ToneBooster Timemachine which costs money but is cool for crunching up drums or delays, emulates sampler bitrate/samplerate and ad/da. I finally forked out for Tone-Projects Sonitex not long ago and if you've got the money it combines about 10 plugins worth of processing in one place, and doesnt fuckout like the esoteric decade old freeware. I posted a track I did which uses it a fair bit (doublebass/vocals and lots of other elements) in this thread not long ago.

looks like a cool plug-in. I either rip right from vinyl or a .flac + the izotope vinyl plug-in if that's the sound i'm going for--then it's just live and an mpd 26. I've been playing with the idea of grabbing an sp-404 with my tax refund but I don't know gently caress all about using one.

When I have time and energy I hook up the EPS12 for the awesome 1988 floppy disk sound which is my favorite - it slows down / speeds up samples and makes them sound amazing... I mostly just use Ableton with a reason rewire nowadays but if I can get the MV8800 going and I'm really feeling it I will drop it track by track since I finally figured out how to synch it without a complicated midi setup. Mostly I just bang poo poo out on the Push and use the dope step sequencer that I used to love FL studio for. I heard FL is finally available for Mac is anyone on this yet?!?! Literally the one program that kept me from going Mac for like 5 years lol

I've been focusing on getting a live performance style down lately and haven't been recording much, just remixing and jamming.

I'm always nervous to post here but I'm super pleased with this and finding my way again. I'm still not sure if I'll work more on this or continue climbing. https://soundcloud.com/thekylemancuso/run-go-wip edit: What are some trick y'all use for hi hat manipulation? I'm working in Ableton with a very limited gear set up right now. I paint my hihats for the moment, am I just better off making a ton of drum loops and cycling between them during a second pass? Oh and I'm working in Ableton, if it matters. Blimpkin fucked around with this message at 14:28 on Feb 20, 2014 |

Shovelbearer posted:More of an atmospheric/trip-hop instrumental: This is pretty cool, I like the last third better than the middle though. Like starting from around 1:30 where the piano-like sound comes in a bit and then at 2 minutes onwards is awesome, the middle section feels a little uneventful in comparison. Also I found the drum beat kind of faded to the background, maybe its too static? I'm not the best on that front. Made a slow & serious sounding beat. https://soundcloud.com/zmbeats/neo-heliopan

So I've set up my studio in the past two weeks or so. Now I've got my vinyls in close proximity to my computers. I have a TT-Ion USB. I Have the cables I need. Should I record via USB cable or hook up an I/O device and record the audio?

I was pretty happy with the sounds (they sound the way I want them to on my speakers, in my car and on my headphones, so.. the big three) but yeah it really is just one pattern played throughout with me turning parts on and off.

Pretty sure it's the pattern, like it's a pretty standard hip hop drum pattern and it kind of just repeats without much variation. Again the last half is lovely, drums and all, the different sounds all have a little more space.
