If there's anything more important than my ego around, I want it caught and shot now.
Cut off the Hydra's head while climbing on it (baller as gently caress) and escorted it to the capital on a wagon (not so much)

I'm enjoying the game well enough, even if it isn't quite what I wanted.

Switched to Assassin because swords, and bought and upgraded a decent one. Kicking some rear end now!

I am really getting loving sick of these wolves though. Like, I JUST killed 5 wolves, and another pack of them comes up before I'm even done looting their bodies. Then I step forward 10 feet and get attacked by another pack of wolves. FFS how does anything live in this world? Wolves have outbred everything else.

Probably unlock Mystic Knight or Warrior next. I know putting lots of points into maxing Assassin skills would be better, but that's how I do.

I do like the pawn system, which seemed kinda weird at first. Especially wandering around town and seeing it full of other adventurers, especially since they're other players' characters, and checking them out to see if I want to hire them over my current party, is pretty dang cool. It makes the single player feel more alive.

I accidentally took the "escort Cassardis' chief" quest before reporting to him to finish the first part of Quina's questline, which meant I had to escort him to the Shadow Fort (which I still haven't stumbled across, 10 hours later) before I could finish her quest. I didn't know this of course, so I just went around adventuring with him, and he was killed by a cyclops. So no Quina quests for me.

Just keep running. Learning to ignore groups of enemies in the world map made the game so much more fun for me. Enemies really don't chase for that long, so they're all easy to escape.

Any time you pick up an escort quest, you can cancel it by going back to the notice board you got it from and the NPC will return to wherever they usually are. That way you can check to see if the location you are heading for is bullshit or not, and then abort if you don't feel like going. Or if need the NPC for something else. Probably too late for you to fix Adaro now though. :(

Those early escort missions to the Shadow Fort are pretty high on the bullshit meter, though as some people have posted about in the last couple of pages they can lead to some pretty exciting adventures if you don't get eaten immediately.

Doesn't matter, as soon as he died during the escort mission it auto-failed Quina's questline.

The only way to win the escort game is to not play. The reward is never worth it unless you really, really want that Gryphic Victory.

I had a brilliant idea. My original DD (vanilla, no DA) is on another account and in the postgame, so I'd just buy a bow there and gift it to my current account's pawn. Eventually found my way through the Everfall, bought a bow, set up friends list... and it looks like DA pawns don't show up for the vanilla game. Dammit game, why won't you let me cheat? :argh:

Are you using demon's (magic) or conqueror's (strength) periapts four at a time? If not do so, they'll make things go considerably quicker.

Well hell, I'll try and keep him for long enough that the metamorphosis scroll is easily buyable. (The Pawn Guild quests in Gran Soren are also useful for this.)

Edit: Well, Rudy survived a run of the Wyrm, Wyvern and Drake bleak rotunda. Of course, none of the gear I was wearing went dragonforged, but he's knowledgeable as hell about them now!

thanks for the tip. Went back to the boss with the stockpile of items I had collected over the course of the game. Jumping onto his back, popping some Liquid vim and conqueror's periapts, then letting loose with holy enchanted hundred kisses did the trick

I was really close to getting nailed by one of those death bolts during the last bit of his final health bar which would've really sucked

I wish that there was a way to reset your level but let you keep all of your gear and vocation ranks and so on. I don't really mind easy games usually but everything dies way too fast at level 160 something and I have balanced stats across the board and am using rusted and aneled weapons for the debuffs. I'd start a new game but one of the best parts of the game is playing dressup and trying different character builds with different skill setups and I don't really feel like starting all of that gear and vocation grinding from the beginning. I guess that I could drop a bunch of my damage boosting augments for more utility stuff.

Edit: Mostly my problem is that I don't get to see my clever rusted magick shield/aneled beak/abyssal anguish/flame trance combo in action in mob battles since almost every enemy besides bosses and bitterblack minibosses die in seconds, making all those stacked debuffs mostly useless. At least completely neutering bosses by keeping them permanently blinded and torpored is fun.

Artificial difficulty.
I've been going as a Mystic Knight for a while, killed Daimon and Awakened Daimon, and I have a doubt. I'm a melee/brawler-oriented MK (I have my pawns enchant my weapon and use Dark Anguish, and only use Great Cannon when I have to), and I've been curious about what weapon I should use. I have a Cursed Light and a Shooting Star (got advanced-vocation stuff from my first BB weapon lv3 instead of anything I could actually use), and I read that Cursed Light is awesome, but it seems really underwhelming, even at Silver Rarified. It's absolutely terrible against Daimon, too, and I felt a lot stronger with my Dragonforged Shooting Star. I didn't really level as a mage or sorcerer, so this might be part of the reason why my magic attacks are mediocre at best. Should I keep trying to get a Devilsbane/Virge of Madness? Or should I level as blue classes mainly to get augments to further enhance my magic? I should note that I am level 100.

Or should I just go back to being a Fighter? I kind of enjoyed it, but I find Dark Anguish to be pretty powerful against stuff (knocking dragons out of the air by Burst Striking their tails, and completely destroying some other monsters), and I hate having to completely rely on my pawns to kill stuff that's immune to physical attacks or that flies just out of reach.

Yeah, he (now she) is a fighter because I wanted to add some toughness, probably will make her a Ranger eventually. I think a lot of people like having their main pawn be a healbot, but I figured if a lot if people do that, then there shouldn't be a shortage of those available for rentals.

My own character will end up somewhere between magick archer, mystic knight and assassin, not wholly committed to any yet. Right now I'm leveling as sorcerer to get some magick attack built up, I understand that can be useful regardless of which one of those three I end up using?

Unless you're min-maxing, any route to anything is solid, but magic attack is never a bad thing. It'll still help if you've an enchanted weapon and go assassin.

I love my Peng

Hey thread, I have a quick question for anyone who has gotten the "Dark Arisen" version of the game. I'm looking at picking up a copy soon despite already owning the original (fun fact; literally bought it two days before Dark Arisen was announced... :saddowns:), since from what I have gathered so far, there's no way to digitally upgrade my version or just snag the expansion itself. But from reading the first post, Dark Arisen also includes all of the piecemeal DLC that came out prior to its release... So my question; is all of that included on the disc or as a redeemable code to download the extras off the Xbox Marketplace? I just want to make sure I don't accidentally screw myself from buying a pre-owned version only to get saddled with another copy of the game that I already own while missing out on lots of smaller bonuses. :ohdear:

Thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to clarify that for me!

Also IIRC you should get two disks with the Dark Arisen version if it's the xbox one. The main game disk and a disk with "hd texture" (read: the original textures they had to include on a second disk because there's not enough space on one DVD). Not entirely sure since I have the ps3 version, but I remember hearing that's how it is.

You can gift them the cursed items themselves. The recipient will still have to spend the RC to purify them and the end results aren't 100% certain as a result. That said, if you test the cursed item ahead of time to narrow down what it will purify into, the person who receives it as a gift will get the same purify options depending on what their class is at the time they purify it.

This is not true IIRC. What "set" of items the cursed item can be purified into depends on a seed that is generated by your specific save file.

One of the selling points of Dark Arisen was a Japanese voice track (since Japanese players were upset there wasn't one in the original release). Surprisingly this made it over in the localization.

Wow, I already had my fall-in-love-with-the-game moment, but I think I just had another one after Griffin's Bane.

Highlights:

Slowly growing furious at the griffon constantly flying out of reach during the first encounter, before I realized that a running leap would give me enough clearance to grab the very tip of its tail when it came low to shoot lightning. I actually cheered when I got it.

Kicking a skeleton knight off a cliff.

While running from the griffin to smash down gates, the griffin nearly killed one of the main knights before one of my long-time support pawns charged in, drew its attention with Shield Drum, and bought us time by being knocked around like a tin can. Just as I reached the lever, the griffin grabbed her and flung her off into the ocean, forfeiting her instantly. A very :911: moment that almost gave me a personal stake in the matter.

When I reached the top of the tower, I went full :black101: and immediately sprinted in to catch the overgrown buzzard's tail before it could get too high, climbed onto its head, and smashed its stupid beak in with my mace, sending it crashing to the ground in moments. Then that guy I gave the grimoire to ran in on one of his own adventures, and melted the griffin's HP effortlessly with a few fire spells while it was stunned.

After that, the surviving five knights celebrated and mourned the fallen, the grimoire dude was :smug: as hell, and I proceeded to carry a small mountain of gold and loot back down the tower with me.

It was like a well-made D&D module in the best possible sense.

A note apropos of nothing: if you want to get rid of your extra cursed BBI stuff by dumping it onto lowbie friend accounts, it looks like a pawn can only hold 10 items at a time until they are recovered by the owner. If you give them more before the owner retrieves them, it looks like the oldest items are lost.

At least it isn't hard to get more BBI Armor lvl 1.
