Anyone remember the De_lite map? Just asking because a friend of mine did a reproduction of the 1.6 version of the map. He said he tried to copy the 1.6 map as perfectly as possible.

I haven't played it yet, but i'm kind of interested in trying it out. I could get the map to try out if anyone else is interested.

Tried to MM single. My team was a 4 stack plus me. I was obsing a teammate 2nd round and whoops he flipped upside down and nobody could headshot him. I called him out with all chat and abandoned. Before I left my team was telling me "don't worry about it!" and "just keep playing!". gently caress MM I guess.

Sometimes when people hack, they turn their view upside down for whatever reason(to make it more blatant? idk), so when you spectate them their view is upside down and they run around headshotting people.

Anti-Stumble unit is fail!
Solo matchmaking isn't bad though

Maybe it's a combination of low rank + outside North America but the vast majority of teams MM has dropped me in were pretty friendly ones.

I rarely have trouble in matchmaking. Even when people start off as assholes if you don't take yourself seriously and try to be cooperative they will almost always follow suit, even if they're still a little bit of an rear end in a top hat.

Solo Queueing works just fine for me.

It's an elo system, so you don't really get dragged down by those lovely players or by trolls. It's an average, and on average everyone will get those lovely players and trolls at the same rate. Just win more than you lose, and if you don't then maybe you belong at your elo.

Makes sense, I never realize it was actually flipping the hitboxes. I thought it was more of a "neener neener i'm hacking, you should get mad at me" because of how obvious it made it(as if the aimbot jerk wasn't enough)

Goodness no, now that wouldn't do at all!
I have about 40 hours in this game and am still getting consistently poo poo on in casual matches, so I joined my first competitive match tonight to see if it was any different. I actually ended up leading the leaderboard (and got my first ever accusation of hacking in my entire gaming career). I was feeling pretty good about myself until I checked the profiles of the guys I was playing against and saw that they all had less than half the amount of time in the game as I do.

So if I want to keep getting better, I should probably do competitive matches exclusively, right? Casual always felt like way too many players, but it's rare that I have an uninterrupted 90 minutes in the day for gaming.

Casual and comp. is two totally different beasts. 5v5 is Counter-Strike, and casual there is just too many people, not enough strategy. Keep playing 5v5, if you cant do MM, find a private server that is 10 players and play there.

Is it up on the workshop? I saw somebody posting screens from their remake of de_lite on esea, wonder if it's the same dude you're talking about?

Anyway if it's not up yet and it's playable/finished, I'd definitely be down for throwing it on the buttmen server.

So f0rest just sent out a tweet that read simply "launch option -language pirate"

So I tried it out...

For those that don't know how to do it, right click on CS:GO in Steam, go to Properties then Set Launch Options, and put in the box "-language pirate" with no quotes, and voila.

This is brilliant, Valve never fails to surprise me.

I'm just tired of watching people poo poo on MM like its a terrible service. It works great and the ranking levels are pretty spot on with regards to however the ELO system actually works in the background. Most people in MM are nice if you talk to them. Its makes it easy for people who don't want to go through the effort of signing up at private alternatives a means to experience competitive play.

Making competitive play accessible and no-hassle is how you get e-sports to thrive which seems to be something that everyone here likes to see in CS anyway. I'm not sure why you would want to discourage anyone from using MM when all it does is cultivate interest in competitive play rather than being a quagmire of 24/7 Dust2/Office deathmatch servers.

The two dont need to be mutually exclusive, which is the prevailing opinion in the thread. Goonpugs are great, and fun, but matchmaking is another good way to get better. Like he says, if youre not some mouth breathing rear end in a top hat, its easy to communicate and learn from pugs.

No poo poo. I'm responding to you saying that diverting anyone from MM leads to them just joining 24/7 Dust2/Italy/Office servers. Goonpugs, in my opinion, are a better alternative to MM for the would be goon who wants competitive play without having to go through ESEA/AltPUG/CEVO and we encourage those goons to join a goonpug when they get a chance over solo-queueing MM.
