Anyone on 360 have a high level mage? Seems like every single one of my friends decided they want a warrior pawn. Seriously. On my friends list I have 1 mage, 1 strider, and 9 fighters/warriors. I sent friend requests to a few people on the spreadsheet but hadn't got a response on any of them.

Dang, I thought I would be able to postpone doing the whole inclination elixir thing until much later, but after having my Guardian-inclined "tank" pawn be completely useless at tanking (of course I was a low-ranked sorcerer which added to the fun), I had to make changes. Good thing I still had a bunch of RC left over from whatever horrible things Hotwire put my pawn through. Still much appreciated!Daeren posted:Wow, I already had my fall-in-love-with-the-game moment, but I think I just had another one after Griffin's Bane. That's funny, I also very recently went through Griffin's Bane, and that whole second part of the quest was possibly the most memorable yet for me. It didn't go exactly as yours did, but something about it I think showcased the best aspects of the game, with regards to both the scripted as well as the non-scripted.

It's slow going, but the inclination potions are something measly like 300 gold to forge at the black cat, and the forgeries are direct copies.

I used a neutralizing elixir and then 15 pots of the inclinations I wanted, but somehow his primary inclination changed back to guardian in a few days. I did not use the chair.

Nope, feel free to equip and unequip as you like. Their only shortcoming is you can't hand them or any other gold dragonfire-enhanced item to support pawns, or you'd have gotten those instead of my cheesing checkpoint saves to get you dragon forged stuff. (Let's not think about how long it took to get all the materials for refining on my level 200 to pass over to this character. It makes me cry for my free time.) Edit: My pawn is a warrior with the 'throw you into the air' move. I had never seen her use it in god knows how much play time. She just used it for the first time as I was sprint-running to leap onto a fly-by'ing griffon. That + her throwing a skull instead of using her two hander on a bandit I was holding in a full nelson and STILL killing it have endeared me. Thanks to the goonpawns who put me on the fast track to the postgame. Wound up clearing it at level 39 with enough gold to pick up the longbow in the Everfall and start wight farming. I don't know how Buttermonster built his pawn but jesus is that the best buff/healbot ever. Ditto for tunaism and zarron's murder machines. As I typed this the ending cutscene, which I probably ignored initially, played. I know I wanted Fournival's charms but NOT WHAT I MEANT, GAME!

So I just started playing this, (Why oh why did I wait so long, it's so wheres my PC port Capcom!) anyway I'm getting overwhelmed by random loot and my inventory filling up, does anyone have any advise? I've been pretty much dumping everything into the inn's to free up weight and only keeping like 2 lanterns, and some poison cure herbs and similar stuff for emergencies, then selling all foods at vendors because I have yet found a reason to eat something and they will just rot otherwise. I feel like I should be doing something with all those fur pelts and bones, herbs, etc. etc. but I'm a horder by nature in these kind of games and don't want to sell anything that might be useful. I'm also having money issues, any tips on that? I made it to Gran Soren at level 10, changed my guy to a warrior, and pawn to a ranger, bought a 2-hander and now I'm flat broke. Is there some kind of money farm I can do at this stage of the game.

First off: Don't worry about it. All those materials you get are for upgrading equipment at the blacksmith, but it will pull them from your item storage when you do so, so no need to be weighing yourself down with them all. As for money woes, not so much that early in the game. If you're on 360, I'll happily take your pawn for a little bit and give them a gift item you can sell for some cash, but just looking around and picking up all quests on the boards that AREN'T escort quests should see you well enough. Take all the 'kill -howevermany whatevers-' and the like. Don't actively try to complete them, though. Just explore a little around Gran Soren and Cassardis and you'll probably complete a few of them as you go. Hotwire fucked around with this message at 16:41 on Feb 18, 2014 |

Good to know, and that answers the other thing I had on my mind which were quests, which have been piling up by the dozens, I was worried there was some sort of cap limit on how many you can take, also escort quests seem bullshit for the level you can get them at, I started a few, then later went nope nope nope. I'm also a bit worried about missing quests that later become unavailable, which has me focusing on side missions before I go back to story missions. Traveling is becoming a bit of a pain now aswell, how and when do I get fast travel, I just have DD:DA and no imported save.

I just keep a few healing items around (some -warish, Harspud potions, maybe one or two higher quality potions), a couple Panaceas for the rarer status ailments, and some items for the more common status ailments like poison. Everything else offload onto your pawn to reduce your carry weight and thus increase your run speed and reduce stamina consumption. quote:I feel like I should be doing something with all those fur pelts and bones, herbs, etc. etc. but I'm a horder by nature in these kind of games and don't want to sell anything that might be useful. Dump them into storage, they're used for upgrading weapons. Andy always upgrade your current weapon to the highest you can make it, having the highest damage output possible is key due to how defense works (basically, if you do just 1 point higher than an enemy's defense, your damage is barely reduced, if it's one point lower, it's heavily reduced). quote:I'm also having money issues, any tips on that? Sell your old lovely weapons. Weapons in dragon's Dogma tend to be direct upgrades. i.e. longsword that costs 6k is gonna be better than one that casts 2k. If you have a weapon equal in strength or one that's close despite not being upgraded, chuck your older weapon for the new one. The only wrinkle comes with elemental weapons; always keep one of each element around since you can potentially make up for a lack of damage with the damage multiplier you get for enemies that are weak to the elemnt.

Fast travel works with a combination of portcrystals and ferrystones. You'll get your first portcrystal during the quest at the Pawn guild (immediately after you get to Grand Soren). Once you get a portcrystal you can plant it on the ground anywhere and warp to it using a ferry stone. There are also permanent portcrystals at Grand Soren and Cassardis. unfortunately ferrystones are not that common. One spawns every week at the portcrystal in Grand Soren (behind the pawn guild), and there is a merchant named Fournival in the Noble Quarter who sells three of them a week for 1,000 gold a piece. There's also a few scattered around the map, but I don't know how to tell you where they are without spoilers.

Yeah, they only keep what they have equipped. Everything goes in to your storage when you send them back. Having each character carry 10 wines and 5 spring waters / incenses is a lot better than carrying 2x the amount of regular healing potions. titties fucked around with this message at 19:41 on Feb 18, 2014 |

Damnit Madeline, I handed you a literal bottle of poo poo specifically so you wouldn't try romancing me again. Get the hell out of my cutscene! What I'm saying is, the romance thing in this game is horribly clunky and if they really wanted it there the player should have been given a bit more control over it. I actually kind of like Madeline so I guess it could be worse. vv

I can absolutely take down a pack or two of bandits just fine, but trying to get to a quest means going through like 15 bandit encounters and by the end of it I'm out of healing materials and my mage can't heal me much anymore and eventually I go down. I'll try at it again, but maybe somebody could tell me which quest to try? If a quest you're doing is too hard, try another. And a lot of quests will have you traveling quite a ways around the map. If you're Assassin buy the dodge roll for the dagger (forget if it requires a certain rank or not) and avoid getting hit.

I know there's a definite postgame to expect after the Final Battle, but how much exactly? I'm still trying out different vocations, but there are almost no quests left to do but for the last one. I was looking to have a kind of pre-final battle powering up phase, but it doesn't seem to exist. I think I'm in the mid-40s for levels and I had enough skills available in assassin to take on most anything. Should I do experimentation with mystic knight et al before the final quest or are there decent opportunities afterwards?

If you're in the mid 40's, it might be a worth a trip to the first areas of Bitterblack if you don't want to go into the postgame just yet. However, the post-game is not a minuscule thing. You will still have PLENTY to do if you so choose, although it will come with a permanent change to Gransys as a whole.

The post-game is more of the story, and there's also the DLC content so just go kill the final boss. An important thing to remember tho; kill the final boss with the vocation you play most often. Killing it gives you a powerful weapon in the same class as each one you have equipped (i.e. if you have a bow and a dagger equipped you will get special bow and daggers). Vocation stuff is best handled in the postgame since there's a really good farming method for DP that you can just leave the game running while you do something else.

Shields are garbage unless they're magick shields (only Mystic Knight uses those). As an Assassin you'll want a bow in your left hand. And don't knock swords completely; daggers are overall better but swords are much better boss kills in the hands of an Assassin once you have their Gouge ability.
