^^great team name. My predictions for today: Cheetahs by 14 Sharks by 5 Also, fantasy participants, one quirk I remember from last year - individual player scores are adjusted throughout the weekend, so just because a player has a certain score at the end of a match doesn't mean it'll stick. I think Fox updates live-ish throughout the game (usually easy stuff like tries and yellow cards) and then goes back and adjusts later based on a replay (stuff like tackles). So don't be too dismayed or cocky about your score until sometime Sunday or Monday when it's all finalized.

Treviso aren't that bad (they're not good though),they were firmly mid-table last year. The problem is since there's only two top-tier Italian teams, they both lose a large chunk of their squad during the international window. They have to put a team together who have probably barely played all year, and then matched like that happen.

Did some kicking practice today and felt good about everything except kicks beyond 30m. Strictly speaking I am a terrible, terrible kicker, however as you may recall I play in the USA Division III where missing straight-on kicks from 10m is a thing that happens all the time. So being able to make a kick 20m out and 20m sideways on my off side (right side, as I am a right-footer) is actually decent, and being able to make them 2/3 of the time is even better. The issue I have noticed is that beyond 30m the hook/curve of my kick becomes both much more severe and less predictable. Everything I think I can control about the strike on the ball can be the same, but while I usually have a pronounced hook to the left for which I can compensate, 1/3 of the time it has no hook at all, or drifts right a bit. I can definitely get enough power to make >40m kicks, so at 30m the power isn't really the issue, but I was wondering if you lot had any suggestions as to a specific area of my approach, plant, stroke, etc. that I should fiddle with to establish a more consistent pattern. Is there something I should be checking every time before I make my approach, like, is the ball pointed in such-and-such a direction, are my toes point here/there, that kind of thing? (Keep in mind I have literally never been coached on kicking, my team has no actual coach this year, and everything I have learned I have learned from watching rugby and league games, so more advice like what you helpfully provided in the last thread will be very welcome!)

"Now remember son, the primary role of the fly-half is to collect the ball from the scrum-half and take it straight into contact while the scrum half's unavailable, allowing the prop to launch an attack with a clever box-kick. If you can't find a defender to run into, a good second option is to kick directly to one of the back three, in the hope they'll just lose their mind and stare blankly at the ball instead of counter attacking, allowing you to run in for an easy try."

It would be very hard to say exactly without seeing you kick but if you're hooking the ball in left (I'm assuming you're right footed) it sounds like you're striking across the ball too much. So you're trying to hit the back of the ball but wrapping your toes round catching the side which will make it hook. You want your follow through with your whole body to be going towards the target. It's tempting to swing your leg so your follow through ends up going round you, you need it to be going forwards or the ball will follow your foot round. Here's a decent video I found that has some tips in it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qClWlvA-WLQ Other than that just practice practice practice. Even if you can't get rid of the hook entirely, even pro's still hook the ball slightly, you can make is consistent so you can aim it based on how you'll kick the ball.

They should just merge all the top European leagues into a 32-team league, 4 Irish, 4 Welsh, 2 Scottish, 10 English, 10 French, 2 Italian, two conferences with two divisions (Northwest/Northeast, Southwest/Southeast, or whatever), 16-game regular season, 3 knockout playoff rounds, an all-star game, and a grand final event rotating among the major stadiums, with an elaborately choreographed half-time show, and you all learn to eat hot wings and drink lovely beer while watching it. Boom, rugby solved.
