My understanding is that a lot of the bus-sized RVs are in fact built on heavy duty chassis, but because they're not set up to haul bulk cargo, their actual weight going down the road is more on the scale of a UHaul, not an actual semi or bus. Most of the modern Class A diesel pushers with slides push 30,000 easy. A old MCI-9 weighs 27,000 out of the box. the 102-a3 is around 35,000. Both of these are used for RV conversions, and don't require a CDL as long as you don't pull a trailer behind it. Fwiw: my old 4104 was under 26K if I kept it low on fuel/water.

For $4000 you can have this running '61 Impala that's in decent nick http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/4294139554.html OR for only $200 more, you can have a Bel Air with no interior or floor, plus bonus front end body damage but all the parts are totally there so it's no problem. http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/4335877083.html

The amount people want for their rusted out 50's and 60's era sedans boggles the mind. I need to find a way to get funding for a study on sell-through with those types of auctions, there can't be that many project car dreamers out there. http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/4312966119.html Howabout an old El Camino for $4500? You guys love these things, this one has been parked up the street from me for the last year. It was used pretty heavily during the remodel of the house to the left, so it must run well enough. The owner keeps it parked on the street, which is annoying since it's a dually and all. Please buy this and take it far, far away from here.

It probably isn't helped by the fact that the only places the VIN is typically stamped on a SBC often get ground down if the block is ever properly machined (i.e. a pad on the cylinder deck), and the basic SBC casting numbers for the ubiquitous 350 are almost always the same whether it came from a Corvette, Camaro, C10, or Caprice. So it's always a Corvette.

You don't have to have a giant rear end tow rig to race a car. I knew a guy who used a Saab 900 to tow an HP Sprite around. Any basic Mini SUV these days could tow around a Formula *whatever*/SRF/Spec Miata with a light trailer.

Name a vehicle more rare in the United States than a Daihatsu Rocky that is also a Daihatsu Rocky. A Toyota Blizzard! It's right here on eBay currently at $5,500 and I wants it, I wants it bad. From Wikipedia: The LD20 Blizzard is based on the Daihatsu Rugger and is equipped with the 2.4-litre (2446 cc) 2L diesel engine producing 83 PS, and from 1985 it was fitted with the 96 PS 2L-T turbodiesel. The Blizzard has part-time four-wheel-drive with a 5-speed manual transmission with a 2-speed transfer case. trouser chili fucked around with this message at 16:18 on Feb 19, 2014 |
