The rebellion of your youth is the only valid rebellion. Any rebellion that occurs once you've gained even the tiniest foothold in an existing power structure is stupid/invalid/wrong.

Both bands who were great when you were 15 and then you realized that every single one of their songs sounds the same. Moreso the Ramones than the Misfits, but then the Misfits were really only ever Glenn Danizg and a bunch of utterly forgettable other guys anyhow. And Danzig is still pretty cool in my book.

On a post about gun control:

quote:

To: rktman
A little anecdote that shows an armed society is a polite society. About 20 yrs ago I lived near the town of Chester, NY. NYC took over an old vocational school there that they used as a homeless shelter. Their have been a rash of break-ins, muggings, assaults, etc. all stemming from this shelter. In what was either shrewdness or cluelessness, one of the town councilmen, when interviewed by the local paper about this situation remarked that he was “shocked and concerned” about the sudden surge in concealed carry permits being submitted to the Orange Cty Sheriff’s Office. Even though obtaining a CC permit in NY is less likely than the Jets making it to the Super Bowl, sure enough the crime rate in Chester plummeted overnight and eventually, Mayor Giuliani wisely shut down this shelter.

4 posted on 2/20/2014 12:10:20 PM by Impala64ssa (You call me an islamophobe like it's a bad thing.)

Let me try to de-freep that story. So there's a place that is assumed to be a source of a lot of crime. People nearby apply for CC permits, and apparently don't get them. The crime rate plummets, and then Mayor Guiliani shuts down the shelter. This, according to Mr. Impala64ssa, was because people applied for CC permits that they would never get, and Guiliani was frightened because of that.

None of those events sound like they're actually related, though. Crime went down, but is he claiming that the criminals in the area were intensely monitoring CC application activity and gun politics, and adjusted their activities accordingly? And then despite the fact that the problem was apparently solved, Guiliani "wisely" shuts down the shelter.

I can't tell if it's because they're too stupid to understand the actual consequences a state would face for actually using a nuclear bomb, or if they really do just want to see the world burn around them.
There's no "if". Freepers absolutely want to watch the world burn so they can smugly pat themselves on the back for calling it because the world didn't listen to them. Even if JimRob himself got to be President and accidentally pressed a button that burns the entire world the very last thing left on Earth would be a smug Freeper talking about how the stupid LIEbruls destroyed the world and how he totally faced down an Obama Welfare Voter at Denny's and everyone stood and applauded as it turns out he was the smoking corpse of Einstein the whole time. They want everything to fail and everyone to be miserable because, no matter what, it's the Liberals fault and that means they win.
