Don S Davis was the stunt double for Dana Elcar who played Pete Thornton. That's where they first met. MacGyver is still pretty good but 80's as gently caress. It's pretty cheesy now and can be hard to watch without a huge dose of nostalgia.

A few days ago I had a day where Don S. Davis popped up in every non-live sports thing I watched, starting with Miracle and ending with Best in Show. He was everywhere, and he was awesome.

I'm 3 eps deep in Season 4 on my 2nd run. Did anyone else notice the bottomless magazine in the shotguns they used against the replicators? It was loving ridiculous. I wonder why that didn't annoy me as much the first time around.

I take it whats-her-face (didn't catch her name; just the fact that she fancies Daniel like just about everyone else) is the re-occuring anti-hero-esque character that's supposed to play a larger role later this/next season, as I think someone here mentioned? If so, I can certainly sense that she won't quite receive the warm greetings Jonas gets, after the damages she caused!

After seeing a bunch of people mention it in here, I decided to give Farscape a try. I've only seen the first episode, but I don't think I can watch this. The floating little king, the warrior with the flesh goatee, it all just looks terrible. It's like one step removed from Thunderbirds.

Correct. You watch Farscape for the characters, the chemistry (seriously, Rigel's a loving puppet and is more real than thousands of scifi characters) and the slow downward progression of John Crighton's sanity.

I was kind of put off by it the first time that I tried to watch it, too, but at some point I gave it another chance (I think because of this thread, actually), and it eventually really grew on me. It might just not be for you, but I would really recommend pushing through just to see things develop a bit more before you make up your mind! I've never seen another show put its main character through so much crazy poo poo. It's like they took the O'Brien Must Suffer idea from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and made entire story arcs in the same spirit for Crichton.

I made it fairly far as I finished Season 3. The relationships between characters are exactly why I stopped. It doesn't make sense. Rigel backstabs the group how many times? Yet they keep him around to give him another opportunity with the mentality "Well, that's Rigel for you, hahaha.". They should have dumped him out an airlock after the first attempt of his. I just couldn't push it anymore after I hit the end of Season 3 milemarker. I lost all desire to keep watching.

But yeah, I also enjoyed the Cam-Vala seasons of SG-1. The big supergate battle, for instance, was one of the best battles they've had in all of Stargate.

The cheapness of the production aside, Farscape may well be the most interesting and ambitious science fiction programme to have ever aired. There are no reset buttons, ever. Everything that happens from scene to scene is remembered and effects later interactions between characters in a natural and realistic way. The story plays out almost without filler for four seasons and a mini-series. And they take that stupid muppet midget and make you genuinely forget that he's not an actual living thing. Each brings something to the ship the others need to survive while they are hunted by the space nazis and are all cut-off from anything even vaguely familiar to them except each other. I think that it's a mark of the genius of the show that they refused to do the scifi cliche of everyone getting along (except the obvious villain character who'll die by episode four - Voyager) or immediately becoming friends. Their relationships are a much more complicated than that, and I found it interesting.

Message in a Bottle is a really good episode, but really these loving aliens could've chosen a slightly less aggressive way of getting their message of survival across, as opposed to, you know, impaling a dude against a wall. However, "undomesticated equines could not remove me" might literally be the most touching moment in the series.

Was sick the other day so I started watching SG1 yet again. It is amazing to me that no matter how many times I have watched this series, the first sight of Kinsey always pisses me off. I hate that bastard. Also Vala haters can suck it.
