Another 1? Aww man...
Spender will continue to be my favorite, because he is so bad at maintaining the air of badassery he imagines himself to have.

Also, to remind everyone about the man who has been fooled by the classic "made you look" gambit multiple times:

(I have a pretty good feeling it'll turn out Spender took out THE spirit on a fluke)

Huh, cast page says that Isabel's Grandfather trains consortium agents. I figured he was just training disciples and once in a while one chose to go agent.

I took this page to imply that he trains the agents. His first thought when he hears another agent is coming is that he'll be training them.

Ah so Forge isn't a bad guy. I guess he's a merc? Lol at spender bragging not being fooled for the oldest trick in the book. Never change you goddamn dork.

I wonder what eyes are watching Spender with that dog jumping into the bush.

We've known since Forge's conversation with those rabbits that he's being hired by someone who works with the Doorman, so it was reasonable to assume that he wasn't exactly "evil". The allegiances are a bit unclear since the rabbit spirits and whoever they're working with are clearly up to something that Spender and the other spectrals don't know about, but it may not be malevolent. Whoever the game dogs work for clearly is malevolent.

My favorite thing is when Forge was being told that the weird dog things seek out and follow the most evil thing and he immediately tries to command them.

He at least thinks he's evil. But clearly isn't the most good at evil.

Hm, if they seek out the most evil things and obey their commands, who wants to bet Max's spirit will come out to get them to not chow down on his host? Bonus points if Isabel gets knocked out so she doesn't learn about it.

Cast page also has links to the first page each character appeared on. Just click their picture.

Looking at the cast page reminded me of something I noticed a while back: The only characters we've seen with white spectral energy (that I can remember at least) are Lefty and Boss Leader. This probably isn't at all significant (two people is really about the average for how many times we've seen non-spirits of any given energy color), I just found it interesting; whereas every other color has shown up on "normal" people, this one's only shown up on a ghost and the exceptionally mysterious Boss Leader. We also haven't seen any spirits with it (I think), but Boss Leader probably has some sort of tool. Not counting Spender, I mean.

On a tangent from Boss Leader and colors, the alt text on this page really has a point. Yellow, white, and brown. Wow, what an awful color combo.

On a completely unrelated note, meanwhile, this page (I didn't reread the whole comic (again (this time)) I just checked a few things) has three things I find rather interesting, despite them being (probably) rather minor:

1. Lisa is awesome and weird, though honestly we knew that from the beginning.
2. Suzy is planning to spread the rumor that someone jumped through a moving bus; the bus was actually still when Max leaped through it, because Johnny rie out in front of it and made it nearly crash. Lying is bad, Suzy. Tsk tsk tsk.
3. Suzy's plan is to get all the kids Bus Jumping. Bus Jumping. In order to blackmail Max she is going to try to get as many kids as possible to jump into/out of moving vehicles. Holy crap Suzy.

...I don't have anything relevant to say out the latest page, other than that we've got three purple-aura'd pixel dogs (two on this page, plus the one Spender killed) to one blue, one red, and one orange one. I wonder where these things come from, anyway; apparently they are both active evildoers (see Spender's comment about their language and whatnot) and servants of whatever great evil they can find, but their origins and what they are (besides assholes) is a mystery still. Also, Forge's eyes go out when he's shocked/upset and flare back up when he's pissed at Spender. Nice detail.

Actually that was a fair bit to say about the latest page.

Ah, yes, the "Tighty-Not-So-Whitey" palette.

It's why in her brief appearance she's taking the piss out of Spender and treating Walker like crap.

I'm not sure how much we're supposed to read into the coloring of background characters. Both Violet (fifth panel), Johnny's gang (outside the window in the last panel) and even Max (last panel) have been drawn tinted purple when they're in the background. I think it's just an Art Style Thing that happens to have been subverted once when Max was just starting to see ghosts (which were drawn in purple).

It might be the opposite cause and effect. Zack has said something like he was originally going to have all spirits/ghosts be purple to look at, but then he changed them to being their spectral energy colour. He might be semi-retconning his previous use of purple by making purple a general "corner of your eye/background character" effect, whether it be due to them actually being semi-invisible by spectral means, or being normal, solid people that you're just not really paying attention to.

Purple is not the normal color of ghosts and stuff, it's the color of their shade -- when someone starts to become a spectral, the effect is not instantaneous. Additional link. Notice how here there are some patches of solid green among the see-through purple. Now that our viewpoint character is fully spectral, he'll see ghosts and spirits with their normal colors, not in purple. (Unless purple is the ghost-or-spirit's normal color of course.)

Purple is also the color of the fog of art, so background characters are drawn in purple. It helps the main characters pop out of the picture. This led to the trick here but notice that these characters aren't in the background.

Since then, though, Zack has decided ghosts would be legless. So maybe the ghost kids are not actually ghosts, but spirits.

I think it's like his hair. The anime just comes naturally. Isaac doesn't watch anime because one time a friend sat him down to watch Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon and he got bored because to him it was like one of those dramas where the characters just do mundane everyday things and you have to read between the lines to get what's really going on.

You can see the dog run away in the previous comic, so presumably it left, its purpose fulfilled: Getting Spender and Forge to fight. All Spender saw was Forge try to attack (something behind) him.
