trio genesis is basically poo poo except for abacab (a good album :)) and a few singles here and there. calling all stations is what happens when collins quits and the two remaining members hire a new singer out of a post-grunge band and try to make a progressive rock album ten years after they stopped making good pop rock and twenty years after they stopped making good progressive rock.

the weird thing is that even though it's from 1997 it has the most bizarrely '80s sound, it's all echo and drum machines and lovely synthesizers but not in a retro way, just hopelessly out-of-touch. it's honestly baffling to hear.

take all this and apply it to The Final Cut instead because The Division Bell is actually good.

hubris.height posted:

but seriously you can't call pink floyd over rated when you are willing to admit that two of their albums are really good

two or three good albums doesn't equal their reputation of "one of the best bands of all time" though.

not Pink Floyd news: new St. Vincent album is okay.

yeah but people are practically putting them on the level of the beatles (and i don't think that even the beatles deserve that kind of reverence, you'd think that every beatles album was abbey road the way people talk about them)

i wouldn't go as far as he does but i do see where pirate jet is coming from

what's keeping the beatles from being appealing to younger generations are the fact that the albums need to be straight up remixed and not just receiving their one hundredth remaster. but everyone running Apple Music is a loving luddite.

Harmonix had to entirely remix the Beatles' catalog for The Beatles: Rock Band and it sounds great, like music that was released yesterday.

probably by mixing it in proper stereo instead of "gimmick for rich people of the 1960s" stereo.

THIZ TOUR WE ARE GONNA CHANGE poo poo UP A LITTLE TO MAKE poo poo MORE FUN FOR US AND ALL YOU FUCKERS ……
SO NOT ONLY ARE WE GOING TO PLAY SOME NEW NEW SONGZ OFF OF “HOW I LEARNED TO STOP GIVING A poo poo AND LOVE MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE” AND BRINGING BACK SOME OLD FAVORITES LIKE ANIMAL ….
BUT EVERY NIGHT WE WILL BE DOING BAND MEMBER CHOICE ….WHERE AT RANDOM TIMES DURING THE SET EACH BAND MEMBER WILL BE ALLOWED CALL OUT WHAT EVER SONG THEY WANT TO PLAY FROM OUR LARGE REPERTOIRE AND WE WILL HAVE TO PLAY IT …
SO WHEN ITS STEVEZ CHOICE IF HE SAYS “I WANT TO PLAY GRAB THE MIC “WE GOTTA PLAY IT EVEN IF WE DONT WANT TO …poo poo STEVE COULD EVEN SAY “LETS PLAY SHUT ME UP TWICE IN A ROW ” AND WE GOTTA DO IT …AND SAME GOES FOR LYNZ ME AND KITTY WHEN ITS OUR TURN …THIS WILL MAKE EVERY SET SPECIAL AND UNIQUE FOR EACH TOWN …PLUS THE AUDIENCE WILL GET A CHANCE TO HELP ME CHOOSE THE ENCORE …SO HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BE A TOUR WHERE I gently caress UP A LOT.

they did for the '09 remasters, you should hear them :)

and the four-track downmixing isn't too much of an issue for stereo mastering but it would make a full remix basically impossible
