The Akward Silense posted:Anyone on here check out Restoring Force yet? I do not like it. The riffs are sort of groovy but also have a weirdly nu-metal sort of thing to them. I for one am welcoming nu-metalcore as we've circled back around and it's now more original and interesting than an endless parade of pretentious bands that use 8-string guitars and have geometric figures on the cover of their albums. So 90s it hurts

As I'm listening to this song I immediately wanted to comment about how awful it is. However, as the song goes on I can't help but be strangely drawn to it. There are definitely parts that are really bad but overall it isn't completely terrible. My ears are so confused.

I ordered myself a copy of Converge's No Heroes that they just re-released on limited vinyl (where are my scene points?) and as usual Deathwish throws in a bunch of stickers/flyers with their orders. Saw a sticker for a band called Cult Leader and was intrigued. Turns out its members of Gaza minus the alleged rapist singer in a new band with material coming out in April. The one track they have up is loving solid as hell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEZpEccekcE

They're keeping the same blunt attitude though. When they made the FB announcement that they were starting it just said "We used to be a band. Now we're a better one."

They have some good songs on all of the newer albums but Nightmares is overall the best. Haven't listened to Architects in awhile though, will have to check out the new stuff. A lot of people in here seem to dislike ETID, or at least dislike their more recent work, but they're probably as close to a favorite band as I get. The Big Dirty is probably my most listened to album (although I like everything they've done). They're currently writing a new album too!

The Big Dirty is probably my most listened to album (although I like everything they've done). They're currently writing a new album too! Actually, their latest album ''ex lives'' is probably my favourite album by them. Closely followed by the big dirty. I don't like metalcore that much in general, but I really like ETID. Maybe it's the hardcore punk, mathcore and southern metal influences. In most metalcore bands I don't hear much influence of hardcore punk. The genre metalcore should mean: Extreme metal mixed with hardcore punk. but that doesn't really sound like it. Crossover thrash however, does sound like thrash metal mixed with hardcore punk(D.R.I. or S.O.D. for example). I like how ETID is simple, yet it still manages to surprise me. it's not that predictable. They can take a really simple riff, and than make them illogical .If somethings too simple, it can get predictable. If somethings too illogical, it will sound like random sounds. But ETID Strikes a nice balance in that. I also like how most of the breakdowns just sound like a slower part of the song.
