I just had a game where my teammates didn't have the guts to do anything remotely risky. For example, if we'd agree on rushing B on Dust 2, I'd throw a smoke and 2 nice pop flashes, shout let's go and start running in. 5 seconds later I'd either have the site or be dead but everyone else in my team would still sit tight in the tunnel.

If you are rushing b and throwing 3 grenades before you leave the tunnel you are not actually rushing b.

Goonman more, 75% of the players are mostly terrible and won't help you but at least it's not 100%. What I like to do with a good B spawn is enter then tunnels, make a quick left behind the pillar and throw a flashbang deep off the lefthand wall. It catches the CT entering B early enough that he should be blind and if not he'll usually be caught up at the doors. mcvey fucked around with this message at 23:49 on Mar 5, 2014 |

That said, I started out at the same rank, I'm a sheriff now, and I've gotten a game or two away a few times from eagle mostly solo queue so you can rank up through . The first 10 games aren't really indicative anyway. Or MM as a whole for that matter. 64 tick sucks and teams are so inconsistent. Don't take it as a measure of your true skill. I've seen ESEA main players as double ak's and poo poo.

Just deliberately abandoned a game of MM for the first time. Someone ditched the bomb on the pistol round and we had to go back and get it. We ended up losing and the team starts talking about how we've lost the game already. Then once we get guns one guy starts smoking our side of mid every round to gently caress with our AWPers. The last straw was when I got a kill long, start to push up and die to find that my team has turned around and run off. Meanwhile our bomb carrier is on the other side of the map trying (and failing) to chuck the bomb out of bounds. Basically what I'm saying is gently caress solo queueing, I'm done for awhile.

Double AK to badge is 3 consecutive wins (and that seems to be the norm for a lot of ranks). I've been told that badge to eagle is a big jump, it was either 7 or 8 consecutive wins, I can't remember. Getting a loss seems to mix up that formula a bit.

I feel like aim can take you to DMG and after that you have to start knowing when to move or not to. Basically start being more of a team player. Any synergy you have with players will make that easier. though lately I just run and gun retarded with a negev for fun, Sometimes when I was higher up I felt like I was a little behind in rotations, or I shouldn't have.

astr0man posted:This is not how ELO works I agree, but what I will say is that it has never taken me more than 5-6 consecutive wins to rank up, solo queue, immediately starting from a rank. That of course, is net, so every loss adds another win requirement. By my wholly subjective and flawed estimation, the gap between ranks is around 5 wins against teams of even rank. Another thing I notice is that if you are about to derank, you are much more likely to be the highest/joint highest ranked player on the server, thus giving an easier game, and if you are about to rank up you are playing against equal or higher skill bracketed players. Probably this is mostly confirmation bias though. I ranked from a starting rank of Master Guardian II up to Supreme Master First Class. I also shuttlecocked for quite a while around DMG-Legendary Eagle Master depending on the will of the gods. At the highest echelons a significant amount of games contain a cheater, or team stacks which makes solo queuing pretty untenable. I'd say at around Eagle Master (if you ranked alone) you are either skilled or lucky enough to move onto playing with a proper team. Less stress/more fun. edit: Another thought which I wonder about is that I don't think it can be running a completely normal ELO system because if you derank, in theory you should be able to uprank again in one game, but in practice I never experienced this. I had to win multiple games to gain a lost rank. If it was simple ELO this makes no sense. In my mind it seems possible that each rank has its own self-contained ELO, so like, at Legendary Eagle you might start at 1250 ELO. Each win is worth 10, each loss is worth -10. Win 5 and rank up, and you start at 1350 for Legendary Eagle Master. Likewise, if you lose 5 straight, you derank to DMG and you start at 1150. But also it seems easier to rank back up a second time than it is to move up a rank for the first time, so I dunno what the gently caress Jeza fucked around with this message at 22:36 on Mar 6, 2014 |

I thought the same as you regarding ranking up/down and playing players of higher skill/lower skill respectively (I believe that's the ELO system they use in SC2). The other day I had a game where I played pretty well, and ended up top-fragging. Myself and one other person were the only non-eagles in the game. Yet, I didn't rank up. The next game I was with AK's and DMG's. So I'm not sure that that is how the system works. I wonder if inactivity effects it at all a well? Does the system adjust your rank if you don't play for awhile? e: I have also noticed that if you de-rank it is much easier to re-obtain your previous rank. I also have no idea what the gently caress.
