Cowslips Warren posted:Then maybe I need to read it all at once, because once a day makes it lovely. It can't make up its mind if it wants to be a comic or a novel with a few pictures attached and so far it's tons of cliche descriptions and no real substance. Then again I don't know if reading all of that Nixon space future comic in one sitting would make it bearable. Just what the hell is happening in that last comic? Reading it in a sitting or two makes it clear that this particular story is an old style graphic novel, with prose and illustrations to help things along. There's one arc where it's more of a traditional comic-book style storytelling, but it goes back to this style after that. Reading it bit by bit really doesn't do it any favors. Nixon is awful and really skeezy. Cul-de-sac Has issues with stinky tissues. The Creeps tickles your inner child's funny bone.

Bloom County Calvin And Hobbes Cheap Thrills Cuisine Sounds delicious, but again, that last panel isn't doing it any favors. Heart of the City always vaguely reminded me of One Big Happy back in the day. I wonder if it's aged as well? Herb and Jamaal has provided the thread with some of the oddest panels over the years. None today, though!

I think you're giving Brooke too much credit. Miyamoto Musashi never fought in a river with a boat oar, the closest was when he whittled a wooden sword out of one before a duel on an island. See, Musashi was one of the greatest swordsmen who ever lived, and he went kind of crazy as he got old. He started exclusively dueling with blunt wood swords, even in duels to the death against sharpened steel. He did this partly to insult the young whelps who kept challenging him, and partly because he genuinely believed that he was invincible. He fought hundreds of duels to the death that way before retiring to become a monk and poet, because back then you could decide you were invincible and then prove yourself correct. That is, of course, barring any Sudden and Unexpected Animal Attack Comix. Pooch Café Ballard Street Holy poo poo, a Ballard Moose!

Seriously, what the hell is going on in Chickweed Lane at this point? I've actually been making an effort to follow it a bit, and I'm lost. As near as I can tell it's something like this: Souris there is actually working for the axis. German guy was actually a spy for the allies. American guy has head trauma and he's been very confused. At first I thought the American Guy's head being hurt was just a Calvin and Hobbes style 'this is how he's framing the situation in his imagination' thing, but now it's looking like the head damage actually scrambled his brains a little, and he's only just now realizing that the nazi was on his side, and Souris there is the enemy?

Wikipedia says that B.C. characters were mascots for Monroe shocks in the 80s, and Marathon gasoline in the 60s. I'm having a hard time coming up with any pictures though.

I remember I got that BC Game for my Tandy 1000 and my mom saw the box and said I wasn't allowed to call the one lady "Fat Broad" as it suggested in the manual. She would come out and hit you with a club and kill you, so we would always scream, "Watch out for That Lady" instead. BC was a weird comic. https://archive.org/stream/BCs_Quest_for_Tires_1983_Sierra_On-Line#page/n3/mode/thumb
