Is there any loving point to this game when the "top fragger" on your team with a rad 9 kills is just hiding with an awp until they are last one left to get some sick kills and be top of the charts, cause you can't talk to me when I'm getting mad kills and we haven't won a single round.

It could be worse, it seems to me that at a certain point in a match (probably as soon as they can afford it) the two lowest scoring guys on your team will decide to buy an AWP and camp mid doors or T start, of course they're not going to get even a single kill and will just prolong each round by about 30 seconds as the other team runs them down. edit: I'm sure nobody cares really but after whining about poor matchmaking yesterday I had two straight games that were pretty tight, the second one was particularly fun as me and my team wound up making a huge comeback from being 9-3 down on the first half, I was really garbage at first and kept getting owned by this one guy but eventually I made some decent plays and we wound up winning. That guy turned out to be a real sore loser too. steam://rungame/730/76561202255233023/+csgo_download_match%20CSGO-FQ9fU-GL7He-otdi5-ebMf7-Vp8eD favorite bits: wiping out the entire CT team 1 second after they finished defusing, killing one guy who had the drop on me with a pistol and coming out of the ramp just in time to shoot the final CT standing and other such shennenigans. I really need to learn how to use smoke effectively cause I just never do that. Is there a way that I can explain why the AK/M4/AWP are the go-to weapons? I'm playing with a group of friends who are all new and all suck, but one guy in particular is really falling behind and I think it might be because he hates AK/M4 and never will buy those weapons ever. I've almost gotten "don't buy a UMP on save rounds" drilled into the group, "buy a kit" is the next thing I'm aiming for.

I have a 'friend' of a friend like that, that I hafta MM with occasionally. He's convinced the glock is bad, the five seven is bad, wont use the m4/ak, and will rarely buy a kit because he thinks the $400 is better spent on his 'badass' strats.

The ak/m4 are capable of handling pretty much every situation when it comes to long/short range whereas SMGs are really only reliable for short range. AWP is for long range control of areas. Also the armor penetration of the rifles is very important compared to SMGs

I'm aware of the larger magazine versus accuracy/silencer, and prefer the -S due to familiarity, but I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing because "10 more bullets" sounds like a lovely tradeoff for a lack of silencer and lower accuracy. Does it hit harder, spread more slowly, etc?

There's a video somewhere of cent getting an ace with a M4 spray on Banana. Wouldn't have managed it in one burst with the S.

10 bullets per clip and two more clips. It's also got very similar accuracy, as well as (arguably) a spray pattern that's easier to control. Don't underestimate the value of that extra ammo. If you're playing spots where you are going to be wall banging or covering doors or common smoke spots, it's very important to be able to continue spamming from relative safety.

UMP owns if you can aim but yeah it's not a good save round purchase unless you're doing a force buy or its the early rounds. Also M4/AK vs scoped weapons. Tell them to use it to practice for Aug/SG no scope shots because I bet they do it COD style and zoom in at every opportunity. Those guns develop bad habits. Trust me, I'm terrible.

I use the silenced version because its spray is easier to control and the silencer is fairly handy. The ammo really blows though and I find myself wishing I had a normal m4 on maps where I play sites alone, especially Train B.

Explain that if he does poorly with them it's because he sucks not because the AK sucks.

The whole Aug/SSG being worse than the M4/AK isn't really that true any more. Other than the price (300 for the SSG, ~300 for the AUG) they preform as well or better than the cheaper alternatives.

E: /\ I can't think of a reason the marksman guns are mechanically worse than the M4/AK. They fire relatively slow when zoomed, but there's not a huge difference unzoomed. If you're covering at long-range having that scope could mean the difference between some rear end in a top hat getting ventilated and that same rear end in a top hat planting, with you having to rush into a guarded site. I guess the problem is that sufficiently long ranges aren't exactly plentiful. Maybe one relatively situational point in any given map? Thanks. Sounds like the accuracy is less of A Thing than I originally thought, the silencer is only going to make a difference if the guy doesn't shoot before I kill him and doesn't have voip with his team at all, and the extra ammo is handy as all hell. I immediately switched out the guns when I got the game a while back, maybe I should look into playing with the A4 and seeing if I like it more. One thing I don't usually see mentioned is that the silencer makes for a longer gun model, which if you're trying to hide in a spot makes it peek out and have you seen in a spot where you wouldn't be if you had the M4A4. I've gotten more than a few kills because i could see them hiding behind a box they thought they were covered by and I just sprayed it down.

Ever since I got stat traks for both the famas and galil I've been using nothing but and been owning at it. Compared to the m4 the famas is a sniper rifle, at long ranges you can tap and get headshots real easy and if you have to spam it at close range the firing rate beats pretty much anything except the p90. The galil is great for covering fire and being a really cheap rifle that you can pretty much buy with armor ever round if you use nothing but it.

I'm awful at CS and I use the Famas quite a bit, but even I know that the Famas does poo poo for damage when compared to the M4. I will say that I do like that the Galil has 3 shots of perfect accuracy, but it doesn't do nearly as much damage as the AK. I'd rather spray and pray with a P90 now than deal with the budget rifles in most scenarios now.

The m4 does more damage but sprays a lot more easily and takes longer for the recoil to reset. You can always retap with the famas in like a 10th of a second to get a headshot. Also a good general tip is to never reload. Right when you reload an enemy is going to come around the corner and catch you with your pants down.

Famas/Galil are good to get used to if you're bad/die a lot since that $700 difference often means one less eco. Though, if you're bad, you should be practicing with the M4/AK, so.....

The silenced m4 is amazing if you act like a ninja. Pop out, dink someone, pop back in and Ts wont know where you are(unless you are in a predictable location). I prefer unsilenced on some maps though. Like Nuke or mirage.

I waited in nuke B in that dark corner under windows/beside ramp with a silencer and picked all 4 remaining players while they tried to plant without any of them knowing where I was. *planting* *dink* *planting* *dink* etc they were bad players obviously but it was funny anyway, for me.

I find the M4A4's larger mag is better if you're watching a tight/close spot, like say D2 catwalk or B site, jail/headshot box on Mirage, or A apts on Inferno, where a close quarter engagement is likely. I prefer to use the M4A1 on maps like Cache or Season because the angles/spots you play in certain sites are typically held further out. Maybe I suck with the M4A4, but I seem to play better with the M4A1 when there's a decent amount of distance from a site's entry point.

If someone won't go full rifle, try to convince them off save/anti-eco rounds to go galil/famas, pretty sprayable, has armor pen, and my friend not being the best or worst does it and spends their time saving up for the team. Although it sounds like your friend feels like they are uber pro with deagle/auto and buying fire/frag no flashes. Worst case scenario you have to point out constantly how they are wasting money buying all their stupid poo poo and then getting mowed down cause they aren't buying the important poo poo, I have to kick the poo poo out of my group when they buy full nades on ct (fire/smoke/frag/flash) spending as much as they can on nades, and then they are clutching or they win the round out with someone else and haven't thrown a god drat thing. Grenades in particular outside of poor gun buying habits are a huge trap cause people just want to hold them all day when you usually have to pre-throw nades, they aren't for making precision throws into groups of known enemies. (I see too many people try to fastball special people after peeking them and just eating a bullet)

Your friends probably want to run and gun. You can't and shouldn't use the AK or the M4 if you prefer to never stop running. They are best to use the UMP or P90. (Yes I realize you are supposed to stop, i never use SMGs, but I see plenty of guys do just fine run'n'gun. Yes i realize this is not good strategy at the professional level)
