It's not the end of the world I'm just vaguely disappointed. What kind of books do you like? I'm currently reading The Fig Eater, by Jody Shields. It's a murder mystery set in Vienna in 1910, and I'm really digging it.

Especially if it's like one of five books total 95% of my books are in storage and when people come over and see a measly small three-shelf unit of books I want to yell "NO SERIOUSLY I OWN WAY MORE, DON'T JUDGE ME. If you're gonna judge me, we gotta drive 1000 miles do my dad's house and you have to look through all my books first." They usually say something like "Wow, that's a lot of books!" when they see the small shelving unit and that definitely makes me like them less. NO SUCH loving THING I spent about four hours on my blog and it's alllllmost done but I don't care enough to finish it and I'm mad at myself about that. E: poo poo please tell me you guys were just misspelling "Pahluniuk" and not talking about some other author entirely

Way back in the early days of the internet when I was doing online dating (I think it was long ago enough that Yahoo personals were a thing), I put "tell me the last five books you've read". Best questions ever to weed out uninteresting people, so many guys would list five golf books or computer books. I have a poo poo load of books (basically an entire room) and I am so tired of owning so many things. I really don't reread stuff much, I think I hold onto books as a talisman, to define myself and prove to the work who I am. But I don't think I need to do that anymore. I really want to pare down to just one or two bookcases max and donate the rest. amarantinesky posted:Actually Thora I mixed you up with Tora! Tora! Globo-Hitler III posted:recently finished The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles I liked it too. Murakami is like reading a zen meditation, you just follow the characters and see where it goes and try not to figure out what might happen. Kafka on the Shore is even better, I thought. But 1Q84 is terrible, don't bother. I'm kind of a book judger, but maybe not as bad as I used to be. There can be a time and a place for most everything. I find myself rereading classics a lot, especially the jazz age/lost generation (Fitzgerald, Dos Passos and Papa Hem mostly) Crow Jane, if your cool bookstore has any cool copies of Dante's Divine Comedy, either english or italian, I'll pay you in wine - Edit - beaten to death on Kafka on the Shore
