I'd really, really try to borrow some upgrade cards from people, specifically Push the Limit if you're looking to run your Interceptor and Advanced Sensors if you're looking to run your B-Wing.

If you can wrangle those, I'd recommend:

Dagger Squadron Pilot (24)
Advanced Sensors (3)

Gold Squadron Pilot (18)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Wedge Antilles (29)

Rookie Pilot (21)

Total: 100

or

Soontir Fel (27)
Push the Limit (3)
Stealth Device (3)

"Howlrunner" (18)
Determination (1)

Academy Pilot (12)

Academy Pilot (12)

Academy Pilot (12)

Academy Pilot (12)

Total: 100

^Truth, B-Wing with Sensors gives you a lot more options with the ship, as well as letting you take an action before a k-turn. Also lets you hide behind an asteroid and barrel roll out from behind it before moving.

So here's a rules question: Say I have a B-wing pilot that can take a pilot skill (doesn't really matter which pilot). I give it Advanced Sensors and Push the Limit. At the top of the turn I choose a K-turn for the B-wing. Before moving, I take the free action from Sensors, and use Push the Limit for another action and a stress. The K-turn still happens, correct? I'd just be double stressed (which seems to be exactly the same effect as any other number of stress tokens).

Nope

Yeah, don't do that. Your opponent will be parking you on an asteroid or loving you over as best as they can.

Is this going to work? Kyle generates bonus Focus. Bonus Focus is passed to Garven; Garven spends it to give back to Kyle or the Y/X wings. Kyle spends his other Focus firing the Blaster Turret every turn. Garven can even use Squad Leader to let Kyle Focus (because that gets them both Focus for the cost of One action, and leaves Kyle free to take an action anyway)

X-Wing - Garven Dreis 28 Pts
Squad Leader

HWK290 - Kyle Katarn 28 Pts
Recon Specialist
Blaster Turret

Y-Wing - Gold Squadron Pilot 23 Pts
Ion Cannon Turret

X-Wing - Rookie Pilot 21 Pts

Ah well, time to find another way to spend 2 points. Does the combo in general work though? Kyle Focus -> Garven -> Garven spend passes it to someone else? (Including back to Kyle)

I'm really intrigued by the idea of doing a campaign. Just wish I knew more people in my area who played.

In other news, the owner/manager of my FLGS told me he was planning on quizzing the hell out of the FFG guys at GAMA this week about where they were going to take the game, now that they're pretty much out of original trilogy ships. Yet another reason to look forward to the store championship next week.

In "Cutting the Cord," a 110-point Rebel squadron flies into an asteroid field looking for a 100-point Imperial squad. One of the Imperial fighters is designated as a "prototype" and each of the asteroids holds a hidden facility, which if the prototype ship is close to can be revealed and a specific buff applied for as long as the prototype is within range. The rebels can destroy revealed bases with weapons fire, or deploy operatives to try and sabotage ones that are still hidden. The imperials have to kill all the Rebels, while the Rebels only have to kill the prototype to win.

That actually sounds like fun, it would be pretty amazing with a TIE Defender or Phantom as the prototype. My least favorite mission thus far was the rescue one which shipped with the Lambda Shuttle. Essentially it's a "rescue 5 people" and you really need to use the Shuttle or a few TIE Bombers, you are guaranteed to take damage and I've never won the mission yet. The first time I did it the Shuttle got blasted on the first or second turn, and because the rest of my ships were TIE Fighters, it was impossible for me to win.

Took another store championship yesterday with the following:

2x Blue with Ion and FCS
2x Golds with Ion

Against B-wing heavy lists I just ioned them repeatedly until they died or flew off the board, and against a swarm the other guy just couldn't roll any evades. That much ion goodness is a killer!

How do you think that list would fare against the 4x TIE Bomber list? I'd imagine the initial volley would be alright but the Bombers would get torn up by the B-Wings.

Faced a Falcon. Chewie backed up by blues. With 4 ion cannons on the board though, I could ion the YT and the Blues same turn. Ended up wasting both blues pretty quick then chasing the falcon down, losing just one Y-Wing towards the end. Almost ioned the falcon off the board, did ion a B-Wing off.

Prizes were the same but this time I nabbed the rebel card box. Now I'll DEFINITELY be making the drive to WI or NE for a 2nd regionals.

I faced 3x bombers (including Jonus) last tournament. As well as Howl to back them up after the missiles. I had BBXY then, but the outcome would be pretty similar I think. Unless the missiles were incredibly lucky, they'd get torn up after. Especially since if you're ioned you don't get to drop a bomb. In that game I took the hits from a Concussion and Assault missile, then was able to ion a bomber, force the APT carrying bomber to collide and lose it's action so not be able to fire it, then took 2 damage on EVERY one of my ships from seismics (poor estimating of how far away I'd get) and still cleaned up the surviving two bombers. 32HP is a lot to have to chew through if those initial strikes don't go perfect.

I lost out on first place at a store championship because the TO decided 2 rounds was more than enough to determine a winner of a 10 person tournament. no elimination rounds, no head to head between the two people with 2-0 scores just end it right there.

That sounds like it was pretty lame, was it poor organisation on the TO's part or just lack of effort? I get it's 'just' a store championship but christ.

Jesus.

My store had weird mats because they don't want to double up tables:

quote:

Instead of using a 36” x 36” play space we will be using a 45” x 30” play space for the Tournament

It was pretty bad, but I guess it only benefited me since I was running Kyle + goodies.

What in the gently caress? I'd email the FFG organized play guys and let them know. Might impact the stores chances of getting future events. That is serious bullshit.
