Can someone recommend a remote app type thing to use with my PC? I guess just a trackpad/keyboard thing would be fine. I wanna watch movies from bed like a fatass. Also are there any other cool things I can do with my phone and computer that I don't know about? I just built a PC and was kind of wondering about using it as a server or setting it up so I can gently caress with it over the internet on my phone or whatever.

Is there a reason why Google+ would be causing such a large wakelock on my N7 2013? I've noticed the battery only lasts 4hr 50min if I'm actively using it and it goes for about a day or two on standby. I casually checked the battery screen and there's G+ right at the top keeping the tablet awake. I force stopped it and it just kept turning itself back on. I'm starting to think I should do a factory reset...

I don't know the cause but mine was doing the same thing. I Greenified it at first but then decided to just disable/freeze it completely since I never use it.

Is there any way to use MySMS in the background so I can send/receive texts on my computer, while keeping Hangouts as my actual SMS app? (MightyText lets you do this, but I found MySMS is otherwise way better)

Is there a way to get Google Now to show you your distance walked on demand? I'd like to check something but I can't seem to find the card.

Are there any GOOD video streaming applications for Android? iOS has Air Video which is fantastic and pretty much flawless. iOS/Android have Plex but that's a little heavy-duty for my needs. (i.e. I just want to brose files and stream) I'd love something that supported HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) or DASH (streaming) and had a lightweight server... I have everything Google turned on...I might turn off the location sharing stuff since I don't really take my tablet with me and I can turn off the auto backup since I don't take photos with my tablet unless I HAVE to. We'll see how it fares then.

I just want to give a shoutout to EveryWiki, a phone app for Wikipedia and many other wiki-based sites. There's not exactly a lot of good, multi-wiki apps out there that support current visual guidelines.

The guy who made Action Launcher just released his newest creation: Link Bubble. Basically, whenever you click a link in an app it loads it in the background in a stripped down browser without leaving your current app. You can then click the little bubble it leaves behind to read the link in a popup of sorts. After that it has a really neat "flick-to-share" feature where you flick the bubble to a predefined area and it auto shares to whatever you have it set to (G+, Facebook, Hangouts, etc). Pro is a bit steep at $5 but allows you multiple bubbles instead of just one. After playing with it for a few minutes I bought it no questions asked.

Maker Of Shoes posted:The guy who made Action Launcher just released his newest creation: Link Bubble. This is pretty neat, I bought the Pro version. The trial/free version only lets you pick one app that links are intercepted from. The bubbles took a little while to load, but again that's probably a function of my lovely connection and not a problem with the app. I like the inventiveness, even if I end up not using the app. Action Launcher is great too, although for now I switched back to the Google Now Launcher.

I started looking for an Android PHP/Web IDE a few years ago and there have been very few options that look like they're worth much. I don't really want to do full development on a phone/tablet, but for those weird occasions when I need to make a quick change and I'm sitting at a bar, I wanted something that would allow me to keep drinking rather than go find a laptop. Well, it looks like AWD will do what I want. I think it launched in February and it's already pretty polished and easy to use. I bought the full version (5 bucks) after only a few minutes. I think the free version only allows 1 ftp connection/project. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kidinov.awd I believe the developer isn't using english as his first language, but he's pretty responsive in the comments and on his g+ page.

Does anyone know of an app where I can set silent times on my phone but whitelist certain numbers so they can come through? For example, I want my phone to be silent from 10pm-6am so it doesn't wake me up, but if my wife is out with some friends or something and calls, I want the phone to let her calls ring.

Lightflow can do this. Enable sleep settings, change it to time, add your contact and make sure her settings is set to "Exclude from Sleep Mode." I tried Lightflow a year ago and hated it, but now that I have three separate Gmail accounts and all sorts of routine notifications, it's a lifesaver. Sleep mode is just a cherry on top.
