A friend just got cs and I want to send him an extra operation pheonix pass I have but am getting something about steam secure needing to be active for 15 days. Does this mean his account needs to be 15 days old or does he need to have a credit card on it for 15 days or what? Same thing happens when I send him any extra skins or community items, it wont let me trade with him for the same reason.

You can't trade or use the marketplace on an account that hasn't had steam guard enabled (the 2 factor auth email setting) for less than 15 days.AugmentedVision posted:Opening crates is dumb. Most of us probably think of ourselves as too classy and intelligent to play the lottery or go to the casino, but opening crates is the same thing. Except less fun and with worse odds than going to the casino and playing some card games. Well technically you do win ~something~ every time you open a case. It's just that the ~something~ is most likely worth less than the $2.50 you paid for the key on the marketplace

He needs to have made a purchase in a certain time window that starts some time ago and ends 15 days ago. So in 15 days he'll be able to trade. Also only the lobby leader needs to have the pass to queue up for the maps FYI. I just don't think he'll be able to get the Phoenix crates. Not that it matters, since he won't be able to sell them for 15 days and they will be worthless by then.

That would be a step up for opening new boxes because I am super loving done with that poo poo after opening several boxes for poo poo, selling a few off, and opening one more box with the earnings to get a skin that was in worse condition than the one I just sold.

It is exactly the same except instead of stattrak / knives there's unusual couriers. The system they set up does allow them to leave some of the items off of the guarantee drop list as well. http://www.ongamers.com/articles/dota-2-18th-march-patch-content-analysis/1100-1063/

There are 13 items in the case, (not including Knife), that's 32.50$ to open the case 13 times and get one of every item. Sell JUST the AWP, and you've already doubled your money. And if you get all 13 items, then what? Are you guaranteed a knife on the next unbox? Yeah I'm not so sure.

No, it's making the opposite assumption -- that you would get all the low-quality items first and you would have to get every single other item before the Asiimov. It's also making the assumption that prices would stay the same despite the drop system changing, which is obviously false and also probably one of the reasons why Valve would never make such a drastic change.

Good luck selling that AWP for 70 bucks when anyone can get one by opening 32.50 (or less!) worth of crates. Valve's been doing a lot of stuff in Dota to prevent cosmetics from getting prohibitively expensive, and I kind of hate it. On the one hand it's great that anybody can get most of the skins that they want for cheap, but skins being super rare/expensive makes them both exciting to aspire to if you're into trading and exciting to see in the wild. Kind of the wrong thread, but they tanked the price of any non-genuine (guaranteed not to be dropped ever again) item late last year with Auspicious versions of everything else dropping like hotcakes in special events, and as a result they completely devalued the pool of medium priced items. How are you supposed to trade up to a 180 dollar Dragonclaw Hook, for example, if all the other items in the game are trading for <$20? You simply can't anymore. I realize that I'm coming from a different perspective because I both already have a ton of steam value in my inventory (trade with me!) and do a lot of trading (and am probably a bit butthurt since I lost probably a thousand dollars worth of value in the last few months \/(0_0)\/), but I really think that some of these dota changes hurt everyone in the long run and I really don't want to see them in CS:GO.

After that, it resets.

Does DOTA have something like the trade-up contract in CS:GO? I think people tend to forget that if you get 10 poo poo items from a crate series you can trade them up for a less poo poo item. This past weekend I traded-up 10 5 cent guns into a 60 cent gun which I guess is something.

I'm not saying it's a bad map, I don't think it is, but without a mid or some way to not have to go all the way around the map to rotate, yes, it's too long. At the pro level it might be fine, pro players know how and when to rotate. But in Goonmans (or MatchMaking) most players wouldn't have the knowledge of how early they need to rotate to effectively combat the maps rotation times. Honestly it was never our intention to make things easy for people. Easy to play (not getting caught on any bullshit, smooth movement, easy visibility)... but easy to win your game against your opponent? Not really. Anyways I'm very open to people having different opinions on the map, I'd say I'm pretty happy with it, but I haven't sat down and talked with Sal too much about where we stand.

I sincerely hope Valve does as much as they can to screw every single one of them over forever. It is better for everyone if people can get the cosmetics they want for decent prices. I also hope that Valve starts cracking down on the betting sites. astr0man posted:Does DOTA have something like the trade-up contract in CS:GO? There aren't 'series' per se, just items of various rarities. 2. The 'turn [x] items of [low rarity] into 1 [higher rarity] item' recipe is limited use item that drops randomly after playing and only works for specific rarities.

I only played Crown once, but I enjoyed it and definitely want more of it. I noticed a glitch spot outside of window near bombsite A, when you go up some stairs to a little platform outside of it there is a spot that seems to bump you up as you pass over it, even though the ground is flat. I don't think it really seemed all that unfriendly to players, it's not super complicated and I think it feels bigger than it really is. I didn't feel lost at any point after just running through it once in spectator. I mean, D2 is pretty big as well, but it's still a community favorite. But I only played it once so *shrug* Also, there seems to be a really sneaky jump spot in bombsite B you can get to with a 2 map stack. You can get up on that cross shape thing above B. It did kind of remind me cobble, but I don't like the cs:go cobble and I liked this.
