What two wrestlers have ended up having great ring chemistry that you didn't expect, or that you expected to have great chemistry but didn't? I think Jericho/Punk is a standout example of expecting amazing ring chemistry, and being a disappointment overall. None of their matches were bad, but something just didn't seen to click between them.

The most memorable part of the Jericho/Punk feud for me was Jericho slipping and falling on his rear end outside the ring on the beer he poured on Punk.

One combination that never really clicked was Shawn Michaels and Curt Hennig. The hype for their match at SummerSlam 93 was "This will be the match of the year" and it was just ok.

Punk pretending to fail the sobriety test was the high point of the entire Jericho/Punk feud. And yeah, Jericho/Edge at WM26 was a pretty big disappointment.

Most of the Austin/Undertaker matches are kind of disappointing, probably because of a combination of their styles not meshing well and both of them being pretty banged up in 1998-99.

They actually had a decent match in 1991 or so when Shawn was still a Rocker. I think the face/heel dynamic was off for the 1993 feud. I saw a Punk/Jericho match at a house show in 2009 or so. Both were heels on tv, but Jericho worked face as this show was in Canada. This was way better than any other matches they had on TV in the subsequent years.

with jericho/punk they made the mistake of giving two guys who have the mic skills to just go out there and play off each-other and build a feud with little help from the writers, a very specific storyline that not only constricted them but came off as over-dramatic and phony.

I'll defend to the death that Jericho's rep is well earned for everything he did through the 90s and early 2000s. But then about a decade ago he decided he was a rock star, kept coming and going from wrestling, and I think he's been underwhelming ever since. He had already retired once for it From 99-2005 and in 2008 he was one of the best in North America, maybe never top 3, but very close until 2008 when he was pretty much the best in WWE and really only behind Bryan and Nigel in North America. People overrate him in the ring in the 90s a bit, and when he came back a few years ago he wasn't at that level anymore, but he's in his 40s. He's merely really good instead of great. He kind of lost direction with his promos and character after that 2008 run, but he was fun as a babyface last year.

I've NEVER heard of Rey sandbagging somebody (not that he could) or half-assing it (which he'd be totally justified in doing), and I don't expect I ever will.

Good jobbers tend to be adequate-to-good, save workers who can sell and bump like crazy when needed. Heath Slater is a very good jobber, as exhibited by one of a hundred gifs and his series of matches vs. old wrestlers in the build up to RAW 1000.
