There's no Toriko this week. The anime is definitely off it's rails now. Wonder why they chose to do a batshit crazy departure from the manga.

Tolth posted:Would you mind explaining what happened for those of us that don't watch the anime? There's very little info about the new episodes online. spoilers ahoy The anime has been pretty faithful to the manga up until: 1. The Toriko/Starjun fight ends near the manga climax. Instead of Toriko getting his rear end kicked, Starjun & Toriko stop the fight to address the presence of Joa/Frohze. They both make their way to the arena instead of finishing the fight. 2. Coco emerges from the pit, black hair and all. He pretty much said he managed to figure out Grimmpatch's weakness and left it at that. 3. The Sunny/Zebra fights were pretty much on par with the manga. 4. Teppei is all of sudden a god since he was flavor changed by Joie. In a nutshell, Teppei manages to do battle with Setsuno and Jiro at the same time without breaking a sweat. Jiro exhausts all his energy to "capture" Teppei to end that fight. Jiro mentions he is too old and trusts the 4 kings to finish the fight. 5. Joa/Frohze pretty much kicks around the 4 kings with a bunch of arrows and swings of her kitchen knife. Starjun is lying on the ground, wallowing in self pity. 6. All of a sudden, Starjun gets up, "blossoms" and gets his rear end kicked again. 7. Miraculously, the four kings pulls off another "Dinner of Kings" which may be enough to defeat Joa.

So the episode this week is almost completely different than what happens in the manga. I was in the middle of typing up a summary of what was different but it was basically the whole thing. It's interesting, but pretty much confirms that they're going another way with the plot after this.

The anime is something else... How the gently caress do you make Ichiryu & Starjun look like pushovers? Why is Toriko is powering up like dragon ball z? I guess the animators want to end it with a bang.

Have they said they're ending it? I figured they were just going to go a different way with the anime since they're near caught up with the manga and didn't want to do a lovely season of filler.

Tolth posted:Would you care to describe it for those of us that don't watch the anime? I can kinda give you a summary but it's not gonna compare to just watching the last two episodes, they're totally different and ridiculous. Toriko is now merged with his inner hunger and looks like a super saiyan elf. Joa/Frozhe pretty much did the same with their demon looking power and the two go at it. Toriko wins with an Infinite Nail Punch. Joa goes down and then gets turned into a black blob along with all the other NEO members who then disappear into the sunset. Right after that happens, Meteor Spice comes raining down but all of our heroes block what's going to hit the arena. The rest of human world gets hosed up but all the chefs immediately feed everyone. The 4 Kings, along with Rin, Setsuno and Beefy Knocking Dude who's name I cant remember right now, are visiting Chief Handsome who's resting in hospital when Midora teleports in with Ichi in his arms, apparently dead. He says some crap and Ichi is suddenly awake. Komatsu comes in with some soup and everyone eats. Midora gets that lil tear in his eye from eating it and then disappears. Next get a montage of people getting ready to go to the Gourmet World and then we see our two Food Bros head off as well. There's more and I might have the order of the ending wrong, but it's as crazy as it sounds.

DiggityDoink posted:I can kinda give you a summary There's more and I might have the order of the ending wrong, but it's as crazy as it sounds. This is basically what it is as Diggity posted, here's a few others. Grin isn't dead, he's in the background at the end with the Bishokukai getting ready to go into Gourmet World, despite Coco earlier saying he took care of him after figuring out his immune system. I know this doesn't mean "I killed him" like Sani "I ate a dude with my hair" did. When last we see Joa, She is beaten into the dirt by Toriko's Infinity Kugi Punch after being launched into the sky with it. However, near the end of the episode after Neo is mentioned, it cuts away briefly to show that Joa is absolutely fine, doesn't have a scratch on her person, and is ready to lead, saying that all of this was "according to plan" Assuming it was infinity, it would have been infinitely better (wakka wakka) to just rescue Joa eventually in the next season and find out that despite being hit infinitely, she managed to procure such delightful ingredients from space such as milky way fondue and uranus (couldn't resist) Despite Meteor Spice landing all over the world, 1> There is no food shortage after a 3 month time skip between Meteor Spice and Complete reconstruction. 2> Nobody is pissed off at Midora. I mean, I get that Meteor spice in this bizzarro world had literally no impact at all, rendering Midora impedent with his great big gently caress off attack, but he had the express intent of making the entire world suffer. As mentioned above, when it cuts away to the Bishokukai, it is Midora/Star/Grin/Ootake, and a cadre of kidnapped chefs from the cooking fest. Yes, the Bishokukai still kidnapped chefs. Despite this: Komatsu has actual kind words and respect for both Midora and Starjyun, and Ichiryuu/Toriko/IGO have nothing to say to the contrary. Again, this is super Bizzarro world, and it's a regular thing to forgive the worst bad guys in the world because they pet the god drat dog. Congrats Bishokukai, you got chefs, and pretty drat good ones. Don't worry, Chiyo and Chin Chin are back at Dissapearance Cuisine, and she isn't all daggers of death staring anymore, and looks like a regular old lady, and happy too. So then maybe nobody died in gourmet world ...they probably did... Ichiryuu is still alive... I'm wildly and amazingly dumbfounded by this. The Blue Nitro never showed, there is no reason to do his Full Course. Even weirder, Ichiryuu, Jirou, Setsuno, and Midora all share a meal (soup made by Komatsu no less) at the same drat table. Midora reminisces about Froze, realizes he's a shitlord, it is just that hosed up. Toriko goes to Gourmet World, with Komatsu, and the credits roll with the line being "Human World Arc Complete". There's probably going to be another season, so that's good(?) Toriko...Toriko... was a super saiyan troll doll. http://i.imgur.com/GWMjn6t.png Basically my theory for both the manga and the anime at this point on will be that as expected, the Bishokukai is going to start to turn into the "Anti-Hero" group (I guess it always was), and Neo will be the big gently caress you bads (because they are). Star and Toriko will fight not because they have too, but because they want to, and will end up being the best of friends with different moral compasses about obtaining ingredients.
