It's part of the Obamacare roll-out rage-a-thon

March 12, 2014 posted:

RUSH: Now, Obama did say (paraphrasing), "If you can't afford Obamacare, then give up your cable TV or your phone." It happened on Spanish-language media. It was Thursday. Obama was at the Newseum, and he participated in a town hall focusing on the importance of Latinos capitalizing on the benefits of Obamacare. It was hosted by a partnership of people, Hispanic-oriented media types.
...
Now, aside from the obvious, folks, what's wrong with that? So here's a guy, 36 grand a year, the cheapest premium he could find is $316 a month. He can't afford it. So Obama says, "Well, look at your budget, cable bill, telephone, cell phone bill, you're just not prioritizing things right." Hey, Mr. President, you may have forgotten, it's not a matter of priority. This man has to have it or he's in violation of your stupid law. He has been mandated by the Supreme Court and you and everybody else that he's got to have this. It isn't a matter of choice. His cell phone is. His cable TV bill is. But your health care bill is not. He has to have it or he is committing a crime, punishable with a fine and maybe imprisonment if he goes long enough without it.
...
This is the first time that I can recall Obama has not been empathetic. He got angry and blamed the citizen, blamed the victim for not being properly devotional to him and his health care law. So, once again, here's Obama opening up the truth. You don't know how to live your life right. I'm going to make you. You don't know what's best for you. You don't know what's important. And, since you don't, we have to force you to do the things that are important because we do know what's best for you.

I agree, let's take an honest look at why health care in the country is as expensive as it is without equivalent outcomes compared to other first world countries.
I love how the last few sentences mesh perfectly with our discussion of how liberals just want to control everything, because it is another thing Limbaugh consistently goes on about on his show as he constructs his evil liberal strawmen.

Another amusing thing that happened today was Limbaugh revisited his impersonation of Hu Jintao when a Democratic representative that took offense to him being offensive was arrested on corruption charges

quote:

RUSH: Yeah, I'm holding here my formerly nicotine-stained fingers that very story. "State Sen. Leland Yee was taken into San Francisco's Federal Building wearing handcuffs after he was detained Wednesday morning in connection with a political corruption probe. A spokeswoman for the FBI would not elaborate because the raids were ongoing..."
...
The reason that I stopped everything to take your call -- and clearly, folks, he didn't call for this reason -- is Leland Yee is the California politician who attempted to get me fired and disbarred and dismembered and dis-whatever else'd after I impersonated the ChiCom premier. The ChiCom premier was here and having a joint press conference with Obama.

I did an interpretation of the ChiCom premier speaking Chinese. (interruption) Yeah, it was one of my best shows. Leland Yee and these people had an absolute fit! They thought, "This is exactly the kind of racism and the bigotry and the insensitivity and what else" that I, El Rushbo, am known for. And that's why I took the call. So here this guy that wanted me thrown off the air for racism and bigotry is now having his offices raided by the "feebs" because of possible corruption while in office. I just love it!
...
All right, here it is. We found the 30-second little excerpt of my program, January 19th, 2011. We had Hu Jintao in town, and he was speaking, and he was not being translated. It was just out there. And you know me, I'm a mimic. I'm an amateur impressionist. Sometimes I'm spot on, and sometimes I don't get quite close enough, but this is what irritated Leland Yee, California, whatever he is. He was state senator, yeah, running for secretary of state, but he's in handcuffs, raid taking place in his office. This sent the left into orbit when this happened in January 2011. They just collectively had a cow over this.

RUSH ARCHIVE: I wanted to JIP it because, well, Hu Jintao, he was speaking and they weren't translating. They normally translate every couple words, but Hu Jintao was just going (imitating Chinese language). Nobody was translating. But that's as close as I can get to it.

RUSH: That's it, that's all it was, and they just went into orbit that it was mocking, it was insulting, it was making fun of it. It was racist, sexist, bigoted, probably even homophobic. A week later in San Francisco Leland Yee had a press conference to talk about death threats that had been made against him after he had demanded that I be dispatched and apologize and all that.

YEE: All I did was to say, you ought to just simply apologize. Just do that, just to say that what you did was not right and that you're sorry about that. And instead what we are getting now are these rather offensive, racist, horrible threats against myself. And I have to say, I'm not gonna sit idly by and allow these things to happen without letting the general public know this is going on.

RUSH: (laughing) Media Matters went nuts. They thought they had me again, folks. They thought I had just moved right into the middle of the crosshairs. This was gonna be it. This was gonna get rid of me once and for all. (interruption) You want to hear it again? On the other side of the glass they want to hear it again. They're the ones who are always quaking in fear that I might go over the line and get in trouble. And you want to hear this again? Okay. Friday, grab audio sound bite number 20 again. Since Leland Yee is in handcuffs, what can he do about it?

RUSH ARCHIVE: [repeats]

RUSH: I was performing a public service. Do you remember all the trouble that John Belushi got into when he was mimicking a Japanese -- well, no, he didn't get into any trouble. That's the point. Everybody laughed themselves. He's out there imitating a samurai warrior, they thought it was one of the funniest things they'd ever seen. Anyway, let's see if history repeats itself. Let's see if they gin this back all over again, just like they did the first time.

Do the people that listen to Rush ever remember anything he said even a day prior? Last week on FOX, they were claiming terrorists have the Malaysian jet and are going to use it for a terrorist attack and yesterday they were calling out CNN for being too speculative.

It doesn't need to make sense. Reality is whatever Rush needs it to be at the moment.

The other thing is that Obamaphones were land lines. I guess he's insisting that Oblammo wants to take away all cell phones and return us to the dark days of only having land lines.

Actually cell phones were added to the program in 2004 I believe because it has quickly become the easiest way to contact a person. Signed into law by noted socialist and champion of the poor George W. Bush. So Obamaphones aren't even an Obama creation. They are complaining about a Democratic president just continuing a program started and extended by Republican presidents (Reagan & Bush 43 respectfully)

When I pushed my dad on that fact the argument changed to "well Obama is at fault for continuing it!" Debating on policy or actions is a waste since with the vast majority of Obama's conservative detractors the stuff they are outraged about at that particular minute is just the excuse they use for hating him in the first place.

The most common excuse I hear is "I wasn't interested/active in politics back then", which has the merit of being true since the most virulent Obama haters I know weren't at all interested in politics until Obama was elected. I'm reminded of how someone said that conservatives don't boycott either, as though the AFA wasn't trying to organize boycotts of companies that treat gay people as human beings every week. Talk of impeachment and even outright insurrection isn't exactly hard to find, though thankfully so far it looks like they don't have the guts to do anything close to following through. I want people who share my political beliefs to be good people, but I can admit that liberals have all kinds of problems. Some conservatives seem to have a desperate need to view all fellow conservatives as inherently Good People, and by extension all liberals as Bad People. (And it does go the other way, though I think less of those kinds of liberals have TV shows.)

Wait, what? Boycotts are one of the few free-market solutions to the problem of companies doing bad stuff! Sure, they're not often successful because they're so hard to coordinate, but at least they rely on consumer choice rather than regulations. I can see why conservatives would object to individual boycotts (most of the people who "buycotted" Chick-Fil-A must have done so because they wanted the boycott to fail), but how can a fiscal conservative object to the practice?

Well ya see most of "conservative philosophy" is basically just a cover for acting like a selfish or intolerant rear end in a top hat. There are some people who really believe in it I'm sure but the majority of media personalities/politicians flat out ignore principle when it doesn't suit their immediate opinions/purposes.

Nicotine is a natural antibiotic. If you smoke a pipe or cigar (just tasting the smoke, not inhaling it) you are killing bacteria in your mouth. Not saying it keeps you from getting sick (rub your eyes with a rhinovirus on your hands and you're getting a cold/the flu, cigars or no) but there is a kernel of truth there.

Just look at George Burns. He smoked cigars the size of babies' arms and lived to be 207 years old.
