As for the stupidity of pushing Roy away from Thea: Oliver's motives are clear. Roy is reckless. We saw him start to crush that guy's shoulder in the club. Him hulking out with Thea around could be bad, doubly so with him not knowing his own strength. Furthermore, since Thea Can't Know™, she can't be told the proper technique for calming Hulksenal, and her finding out about his Roy-ded up superpowers would also lead to her asking questions about other uncomfortable subjects...

It's all very contrived, and could all be solved by just reading Thea in, but apparently that violates the prime directive of Thea Can't Know™.

Except that it's pretty obvious (to everyone but Ollie, apparently) that Thea is what is helping Roy to deal with his anger. Telling him to stop seeing Thea is going to worsen the situation (and in fact that incident with the guy at the bar happened after Ollie dropped the ultimatum, didn't it?)

I agree it's contrived, but mostly because the writers have Ollie suddenly be beep boop robot and unable to see this, AND then have Roy not say something about it when Ollie demanded he stop seeing her.

Slade will reveal his real plan: to gently caress Oliver's mother, then to gently caress his sister.

The season finale will involve several snapchats sent to Oliver and Malcolm Merlyn that reveal Slade's true endgame.

Yeah it is nice that things aren't just magically coming together for Roy and he hasn't become as badass as Ollie in a month despite the fact that he basically has superpowers. It'd just be nice if they didn't have to go back to the 'You can't be close to the ones you love' well since that's been such a common issue on this show already.

Yeah but in this case, Ollie knows that mirakuru makes people go loving nuts so I get why he wouldn't want his sister around that. And so did Roy. It's an extra layer on top of the usual "people close to me get hurt" reason.

I'm just watching the last episode right now so I can't read the thread because of spoilers, but Are you loving serious, Arrow writers?

The cops set up a trap for Huntress by escorting her dad through the front door of the courthouse and they leave all these civilians right in the middle of the potential combat zone?

Arrow writers HAVE to be loving retarded. Like, not even Gotham PD in the comic book is that loving incompetent, and they're RUN by the criminals. I'd seriously have more respect for you guys right now if you had the loving Silver Surfer whiz down on a cosmic boogieboard, say to Ollie 'Great job, Green Arrow!', and gave him a thumbs up then surfed back into space.

I actually really enjoy that the show is pointing out that Oliver would be spectacularly lovely at training people. He's failed Huntress, nearly failed Roy, and has a rough working relationship with the Canary.

It's nice to see a superhero show remember that just because someone is good at punching bad dudes in the face doesn't mean he's great at EVERY OTHER THING EVER.

Unfortunately most law enforcement is always going to get a form of bad presentation in nearly any comic book or superhero related media. This is especially true when the hero is a vigilante. Never even mind the fact that the police put the public and their own officers at risk (I'm guessing those two guys Huntress cross-bolted in the neck right at the start weren't told the plan :v:) but apparently this is a courthouse without even the most rudimentary security in the form of a metal detector.

If you want to watch a show, not a superhero one though, just regular people, that treats high risk police work with most of the proper gravitas it entails (along with a generous helping of melodrama) try "Flashpoint." It's a bit formulaic and occasionally feels like an ad for some company's fancy new gadget non/low-lethal weapon but SWAT team leaders don't go around leaping through windows and indiscriminately firing automatic weapons at a hostage.

Ugh. maybe there were six minutes of the 42 that weren't completely lovely. This was a poor episode.

Not to mention at the end the incredibly dangerous Huntress who has killed dozens of law enforcement officers is escorted out of the room where she met Ollie (who was not authorized to be there but used his connections) by one officer who lazily handcuffs her.

While I thought the writing was structurally pretty fun this week, I groaned at how much they played up Huntresses' moral quandry. They tried to play it like she's never killed anyone, despite her flat-out murdering a gaggle of innocent FBI agents last time she was in Starling.

That is one thing that gets me about this show. It's bad that the bad guys kill people, but all the people the good guys killed in the past is totally cool. The only thing I feel guilty about is the time that bad guy killed someone I knew and then claimed it was my fault.

Comic books are a lot easier to follow once you realize that anyone who dresses up in a costume for the express purpose of beating up dudes in an alley is insane, even the heroes. Especially the heroes.

It certainly wouldn't carry any moral implications on Laurel's part. Thea's so level-headed, I'd love to see a scene where Slade, Ollie, and Thea are together, and Slade tells her everything about Ollie's vigilante secrets, and about how he's the reason Roy left her, and "so you see, Thea, your brother is against you, you should join MEEEEE and DESTROY HIM" ... and have Thea just go "huh, actually that answers a lot of questions and while it upsets me it's all pretty reasonable so uh gently caress you slade"

Perhaps but wouldn't it have been a bigger wedge had Roy decided not to break up with Thea?

His motivation for breaking up is realizing that Ollie is right about his rage. He's actually resisting Ollie's edict at first until he has more rage at the club.

So he's actually listening to Ollie. He may begrudge this fact but it seems like he realizes his plight and has to do something about it.

It may still cause conflict but Roy is definitely still on Team Arrow (for now).
