To be fair, Ollie probably never expected his alliance with Lance to get to the point where regular communication would even be a thing, much less that he would even be hanging out with Lance as Oliver Queen on any remotely frequent basis.

Yeah it is nice that things aren't just magically coming together for Roy and he hasn't become as badass as Ollie in a month despite the fact that he basically has superpowers. It'd just be nice if they didn't have to go back to the 'You can't be close to the ones you love' well since that's been such a common issue on this show already.

Yeah but in this case, Ollie knows that mirakuru makes people go loving nuts so I get why he wouldn't want his sister around that. And so did Roy. It's an extra layer on top of the usual "people close to me get hurt" reason.

I'm just watching the last episode right now so I can't read the thread because of spoilers, but Are you loving serious, Arrow writers? The cops set up a trap for Huntress by escorting her dad through the front door of the courthouse and they leave all these civilians right in the middle of the potential combat zone? Arrow writers HAVE to be loving retarded. Like, not even Gotham PD in the comic book is that loving incompetent, and they're RUN by the criminals. I'd seriously have more respect for you guys right now if you had the loving Silver Surfer whiz down on a cosmic boogieboard, say to Ollie 'Great job, Green Arrow!', and gave him a thumbs up then surfed back into space. I actually really enjoy that the show is pointing out that Oliver would be spectacularly lovely at training people. He's failed Huntress, nearly failed Roy, and has a rough working relationship with the Canary. It's nice to see a superhero show remember that just because someone is good at punching bad dudes in the face doesn't mean he's great at EVERY OTHER THING EVER.

Unfortunately most law enforcement is always going to get a form of bad presentation in nearly any comic book or superhero related media. This is especially true when the hero is a vigilante. Never even mind the fact that the police put the public and their own officers at risk (I'm guessing those two guys Huntress cross-bolted in the neck right at the start weren't told the plan  ) but apparently this is a courthouse without even the most rudimentary security in the form of a metal detector.If you want to watch a show, not a superhero one though, just regular people, that treats high risk police work with most of the proper gravitas it entails (along with a generous helping of melodrama) try "Flashpoint." It's a bit formulaic and occasionally feels like an ad for some company's fancy new gadget non/low-lethal weapon but SWAT team leaders don't go around leaping through windows and indiscriminately firing automatic weapons at a hostage.

I'm just upset/disappointed by the writing this episode in general. I just wrote the cop thing because that's where I saw it when I wrote that. I didn't want to keep a running thread of dissatisfaction while I was watching this ep. Ugh. maybe there were six minutes of the 42 that weren't completely lovely. This was a poor episode. Supercop was great in a stupid way, though.  And Felicity double taking.  And Roy getting shot, I guess.

While I thought the writing was structurally pretty fun this week, I groaned at how much they played up Huntresses' moral quandry. They tried to play it like she's never killed anyone, despite her flat-out murdering a gaggle of innocent FBI agents last time she was in Starling.

Perhaps but wouldn't it have been a bigger wedge had Roy decided not to break up with Thea? His motivation for breaking up is realizing that Ollie is right about his rage. He's actually resisting Ollie's edict at first until he has more rage at the club. So he's actually listening to Ollie. He may begrudge this fact but it seems like he realizes his plight and has to do something about it. It may still cause conflict but Roy is definitely still on Team Arrow (for now).
