It's probably for the best they don't acknowledge Ai.

I know the other main characters interact with the Tower kid, so there's that.

None of the Social Links interact with the main plot; it's just that some of them happen to involve the people who are there for all your teen comedy hijinks and TV Land invasions.

See this is exactly the sort of thing I am talking about, this should be in the games. Either a scene like this if you want to spend the resources for it, or even just a little entry in the database that if your Ai link is above, like 4, or whatever, it adds a "Hey you should stay away from that Ebihara girl she's bad news" line to, say, Chie and Yukiko's "talk to them when they are standing around school/in a dungeon" line options.

Man I feel like the odd person out by saying I liked that some of the SL were with dude's that werent directly involved with all the crazy going on with the TV world. I'd like it if there was more dialogue or interactions that could be affected by your SL level, but its nice that not everything in the protagonist's life revolves around the TV.

During the fireworks if you date a non team member and take them to the festival, the entire female cast gets suspicious when you say it's different going with someone. Marie's Social Link drags in all the player characters at some point or another then they give some text referring to the events in that Slink before you can interact with them.

They're experimenting with it, but vanilla didn't have it.

VVV By simple I mean that the letters and colors and design are basically the same, if you blur your vision a bit. It's still one word made up of four blue letters and one red. V:v:V

It was a little less simple, actually. More borders, cuts in some of the letters.

And I dont think it's just change or simplicity that makes that logo look worse, the letter spacing or width or something actually seems off, like it's a work in progress or a mistake. Particularly the U and the space around it.

If you're taking that stuff into account you'd probably just be left with Yukiko, Rise and the Sun link.

It's the best option of those but it's not like it really matters since there's pretty much no reason to use that over other accesories. Your party wants those element damage buffs or the chakra ring way more (Chie with the chakra ring is amazing. So much Dragon Hustle :allears:).

Well Mitsuo has a crush on Yukiko, so Rise, Ai and the Sun link, then. :v:

Also agreeing that some of the best SLs were non-related to the plot. Dojima, Koromaru, Junpei and Chie were all great, but I've always liked Akinari, Ai and Daisuke (never choosing Kou).

Besides, if we got more SLs that were plot-related we might get another Marie.

Ai has a crush on the Strength arcana of your choice, so you wouldn't even get that far in the link before giving up. :colbert:

Honestly, this is something I'd actually like to see in the next game. If you're not at the point where you've activated the romance option (or you went down the non-romantic path), why can't they hook up with someone else? At some point, maybe Kou actually does ask out Chie, and the romantic path gets (temporarily) closed off to you. As long as you could override them by pursuing the romantic path yourself, I feel like it would make your party feel more like actual people with their own lives, and less robots who serve no purpose other than to be your friend and contribute in battle.

P4 does at least kind of pair off your party members. Like one of the study group things you can do has them talk about how Chie and Yosuke would be good together, and the same for Kanji and Naoto right after. That's as far as they'll likely ever go, I doubt the games will ever explicitly do anything to make any one set of fans upset about ~my anime waifu~. All of the ladies in P4 will probably always act like they have a crush on the main character in every P4 thing so it doesn't leave anyone out.

Though it does have some people hilariously making fun of them.

I'm getting tired of posting the Yamato and Hibiki hug pillows.

Atlus USA protects us from the super creepy stuff produced by the japanese branch. Even Etrian Odyssey has hug pillows for sale on the Atlus Japan Store.

Conception II, even with the concept being unsettling for some really doesn't go beyond what you would see in anime; and I'm not talking about the 18+ ones either.

You do realize there isn't some sort grand hivemind of Japan, right? It isn't a monolithic entity. It isn't 'odd' at all that A group of people in a specific country can think something is stupid while B group of people indulges in it without shame or self-awareness.

Kinda like how people here condemn and vilify people who buy that kind of crap, while others make it easily available for purchase. It's almost as if different groups of people with different viewpoints can live in the same country as one another.

I know. It's just a bit stranger when said groups have both had "different is bad" pounded into their head by their culture fit decades.

Hell, most of P4's Social Link endings can be summarized as "And now that all the issues in my life have been resolved forever, I can go back to acting exactly how our culture says I'm supposed to". (Kanji being the glorious exception.)

Dude, I hate to tell you this, but Japanese people are, in fact, people. Certain people will break away from something that their culture is feeding them in one way or another, and certain people will fall in line. Non-Japanese countries have various ideas pounded into their citizens by the common culture as well, and the same reactions occur there: Violent rejection, silent breaking away, just falling off the wagon, falling in line, or taking elements of the cultural idea with you and rejecting other parts of it that you don't like.

EDIT: v Yukiko's link isn't even like that, considering it ends with her standing up for herself and deciding to stay at the inn because she wants to, not because her parents want her to.

Which frankly, I rather liked. In fact, I really like Yukiko in general. She appears to be the sort of mild-mannered, mumbling meek maiden of Every Japanese Thing Ever, but she's got a lot of personality underneath it. She's got anger, resentment, a sense of humor, she's apparently quite a party girl, or would be, if the Club Scene is any indication--she's got actual depth, and at the very least doesn't remain a stereotype the whole game, but acts very believable and relatable. I liked too that her whole S-link is about her resenting her family and work life, but it clearly demonstrates the support and nurturing environment she has at home, and it is her maturing that enables her to see what was already right there in front of her.

Rise too, considering she never really faced her Shadow self, gets to come to terms with the fact that, yeah, she actually wants to be a pop star, and that's not something about her that is artificial, but something about herself that never had a chance to shine offstage.

I think it needs to be classified or have a renewed classification as it technically counts as a "new release" of the game.

Technically the emulator/abstraction layer on the new platform is new code. Hell, it'd probably trigger a new submission to the ESRB for PS3 interface art alone even if the PS3 had been a superset of the PS2. ^ ^ ^ Or just being labeled for a new platform.

I guess the real test would be finding out if PSN PSP titles had to be resubmitted for the Vita, given that only the generated-per-user license files are different until the target device gets to it.
