Yeah, the first two episodes have been really, really solid and Meloni is easily the best part about them.

It's insane to believe that this show is essentially the little brother of that awful #!$@ My Dad Says nonsense the other year with Shatner.

First episode of Surviving Jack was pretty ok but I dunno. Meloni's character is as cliched as it gets, and the early 90s stuff is completely overbearing. Really doesn't feel like Lawrence had much of a hand in it.

edit: and the second episode aired is production order number SEVEN. that's a horrible sign.

edit2: wow, this is poo poo

I know a bunch of SAS posters were really really eager to jump on the WORST SHOW EVER bandwagon before the show even started because they were annoyed by ads during football. Does anyone know if there's an "average" amount of time you typically have to wait before signing up for HBO and getting access to HBOGo?

I added HBO to my cable yesterday, and by the time I got home from work it was activated. I have a small, local, telecom company I get my cable+internet from, so I was worried that maybe it wouldn't let me access it at. But my provider is in HBO Go's list. To get HBO Go, I had to sign up for some other third-party service called "TV Everywhere."

Well, I signed up for that, but then after I log into it via HBO Go it says I am NOT subscribed to HBO.

I tried just now (so about 24 hours after getting HBO,) and it still tells me to call my provider to get HBO.

I was just wondering if it typically takes a few days before I start making calls.

The Millers is still getting close to a 3.0 in the ratings. What the gently caress is wrong with people, what I saw of that show had absolutely zero going for it beyond the cast - none of whom I would've thought were the type to draw serious audience figures in the first place.

Nearly a year after 12 Monkeys was first put in development with an eye on a series order, Syfy has made it official.

The cable network on Friday announced that its adaptation of the Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis feature film has been picked up to series with a 13-episode order for a January 2015 premiere.

Nikita's Aaron Stanford and Suits' Amanda Schull star in the drama based on Universal Pictures' Terry Gilliam film. In Plain Sight's Natalie Chaidez serves as showrunner on the drama about a time traveler from the postapocalyptic future who appears in the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.

I'm watching Law & Order SVU and, having seen pretty much every episode by now, the people who call the show pornographic are sick, sick people drastically misinterpreting the discussion of sexual violence as an endorsement. I've never seen a TV show with more contempt for its antagonists. Every episode is an example of the worst poo poo in the world, and they almost always end with successful prosecution and a bad guy going to jail. The show is educational at its core, and probably the only piece of media that aims to teach men not to rape rather than guide women on avoiding it. If you watch this gruesome, tragic show and think it's pornographic, you are deeply disturbed.

SVU not only gets a bad rap, it's downright slandered. Crimes are shown neither artfully nor tastefully, but the show is not tasteless, only realistic. People criticize the "ripped from the headlines" strategy of plotting, but that's just another element of realism supporting the show. The cast is politically varied to present as many opinions on controversial issues as possible, from Stabler to Munch. The rapists and murderers are never glamorized other than the intrinsic glamorizations of being on television. If anything, SVU is a sixteen season indictment of rape culture in America. Calling it pornographic and dismissing it is, to make a hated analogy that is nonetheless pertinent, like dismissing a rape victim because of their circumstances.
