Why did those two even attempt an accent? Everyone else just went with their native ones, when they realised they can't do it properly. Immersion ruined, etc.

Twat's been making inroads into the mainstream lexicon though. It doesn't have widespread acceptance yet, but it isn't the domain of comedy nerds anymore. Spread it around, make inroads into twat.

Pronounced /twɒt/ it's fairly common in America and isn't seen as an affectation of a Briticism, and it's been around for a while. According to the internet, /twɒt/ is also the pronunciation in New Zealand and Australia. If you say it /twæt/ (rhymes with hat) you're either British or a dork.

I remember an old joke (about a jockey) in a newspaper/magazine that relied on 'twat' rhyming with 'trot'. It caused much confusion among my friends and I until my mother explained the joke to us.

Yeah this is the first I've heard of twat being any kind of britishism. It was even part of the cheers we weren't allowed to use (but did anyways, because tradition, damnit) at the boarding school I went to.

Also Americans have this weird tradition where every person, when they are born, is assigned a specific word or series of words that refers to them as an individual. We call these words "names", and they are surprisingly useful. Before the invention of these "names", the only way to refer to someone you wanted to talk about would be "You know, that guy? No, not him...not him...not him either".
