ASK ME ABOUT BEING ALLERGIC TO POSITIVITY

IRQ posted:

The show can and basically will have to just do whatever from here on out...

I'm fine with this. More than any other adaptation I've seen people asking how the show can continue while the final two books aren't out but honestly, and again being biased because I've never read the books, I couldn't care less.

If the series and the books have a different ending, so long as the series one feels satisfactory and fitting, I'm fine with it, and if they have the same then I'm fine with it too. It's not a historical text, it's fiction, any ending can be made to work so long as it feels earned.

Well you should still care a little bit, or at least worry, because the showrunners have proven that when they go off-script from the books and start freestyling, it can turn into either utter poo poo (e.g. Dany's season 2 storyline) or be pretty good (e.g. Stabbed in the babby). If they have to write the ending it could go either way as well.

My point was that the "script" from the books is hot garbage atop a tire fire from here on out, so it's really not something to fret over.

I had no idea these things weren't following the script. Really though I'd be no more cautious than when any show ends, as even the original creators of the material can mess up big time like with HIMYM in my opinion.

IMO A Song of Ice and Fire has a pretty obvious ending, it's everything getting there that will be unpredictable. At least two of the characters have well telegraphed arcs.

Yeah, Catelyn and/or Arya can just tap into Bran's godlike new power, and have an instant win button since he is literally omniscient and can tell what every other faction's moves are before they even make them. The Starks can just blindside everybody without fail so there's no way they can't come out on top.

Well, in Supernatural God's position is basically "well, I could keep the world from continually being at the brink of collapse, and some of this stuff is a step or two removed from being directly my fault, but... nah."

Oh, I wasn't even talking about those options, I was talking about the implied God that set up the entire system. Only a spergy dicklord would put people through all that mess for... Reasons?

Well if God did in fact make us in his image, it stands to reason he might possibly be a total sperglord.

I'm an atheist but I love depictions of religion and God in TV shows and movies--when it's well handled. For instance, the episode of Futurama where Bender talks to God is probably my favorite. Buffy had religion and religious references running all through its core (remember, Buffy actually goes to heaven) but I doubt you'd find anyone that complains about that. Same with Supernatural (which probably has my favorite depictions of archangels in media ever, though I haven't seen Noah yet).

In regards to the Rapture being bad source material, I refer you to This Is The End. And Red State, if Kevin Smith hadn't pussied out.

When a religion in media is badly handled, it's usually a bad show or movie for other reasons as well. See 7th Heaven and that movie where Paul Bettany is an avenging angel.

I didn't get that from the show but if it's true I'm even more on board than I was before.

How do Christians generally interpret this statement? Like do they assume God is talking about a formless soul, or do they believe it is the actual human form?

Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone, but is there a general consensus?

It could be argued that the God of Supernatural is omniscient, and knows that he doesn't need to stick around. Humans, angels, and demons can work poo poo out on their own. From a human perspective, having a bunch of Old Testament angels running around smiting people is worse than what the demons pull off.

Also he apparently PM'd a dude "I've hosed more guys than you" and "If you were here right now I'd be spoiling your body". Or something.

Posting an auto-ban thread with spoilers in the title and then re-regging is the definition of insanity.

Well, I don't know what any of that has to do with the actress who plays Shae on GoT (that's who they were arguing about, right?), but I guess if you need to make a statement...

Hey, I mentioned The Wolf at the Door a few months ago, which is the new Telltale game based on Fables. First episode was outstanding, second was sloppy, but the third is supposed to be out today. Just thought I'd remind you that if you loved The Walking Dead game, this is absolutely worth your time.

The short of it is that we don't have a coder or an advertising guy anymore, because we couldn't afford to pay Chooch anymore and AVBadvertising was working free for a year before he got fed up and quit. So there's nobody behind the wheel anymore to fix bugs, add features, or keep every other page from getting a browser hijack from a lovely MMO.
