Okay, is this strip drawn and then scanned or are they effects added in on purpose? Because if it's the latter then drat the crease going down the page about a third from the right is a really nice touch.

Adding texture effects afterwards is crazy easy in photoshop.

To be fair, isn't that also what takes out Spider-Man in the newspaper comics? Random bricks are more likely to beat him than a villain.

Newspaper Spider-Man occupies a horrifying universe where none of the characters have any ability to bring their own plans to fruition and must rely on random chance in order to succeed.
