I haven't really kept tabs on San Jose this year, so idk how today's game will hold. As long as I don't hear the commentary last year's godawful San Jose duo I'll happy regardless of outcome.

Chicago is unbeaten in five games! ...but they're all draws. In fact, one more would tie (heh) the record for consecutive draws.

Can someone explain to me why the Columbus Crew game is blacked out on MLS live? Did they suddenly change their blackout rules?

Never heard of Unimas! Liking the Sounders fightback. This whole 'we'll score one more than you' thing is nice... But it's all Clint and he's gonna be gone for like 7 weeks soon so, ugh.

Unimas is the old TeleFutura which is an over-the-air station. It's not cable. You can get it with just an antenna.

I can't get Unimas without paying for it, but local affiliate (WMDO I think?) comes through just fine. I generally can't be bothered with a Spanish-language broadcast unless it's my team, though. I speak Spanish, but I'm rusty and I find it distracting.

Maybe it's because I'm in LA. And all the places I go, like ABQ, have large Latino populations to support extra channels. Edit: I'm at the Los Dos game and just shook Preki's hand as he was bitching to an assistant how one of his players doesn't try hard enough. He seemed very confused. And Bruce Arena is here wearing his best mom jeans. I love lower league football. B.B. Rodriguez fucked around with this message at 03:13 on Apr 14, 2014 |

I can get Unimas for free, but it's a lovely standard def channel. That bugs me more than the Spanish broadcast, plus I'm trying to grow my Spanish fluency and it's the laziest way to do it.

Yeah you can just go to basically any Mexican restaurant and they will have the channel. I've watched Unimas broadcasts a few times with random Spanish speakers I meet at the bar who know gently caress all about MLS and it's always a blast.

That is next level stupid. The sightlines and angles are terrible because it's not built for soccer, it's built for baseball. There is a dirt g-drat infield that will overlap with a big part of the pitch. There are too many seats for the number of people who will attend, and most of the seats are far far away from the pitch. Overuse will chew the grass up because the entire MLB season overlaps with MLS, which will also restrict when this team (MCofNYCFC) can play and prevent them from doing things like planting grass over the infield dirt or putting tarps over upper-level seating sections. But MLS got their expansion payoff, so whatever.

As seen here: http://bermanphotos.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/sounders_galaxy_db_04.jpg On the other hand, since the Yankees and NYCFC will be playing an overlapping schedule and baseball teams have at least 81 home games a season, the tarps would likely have to be installed and removed for every single MLS game. This means increased manpower demands, logistical issues like where are they storing the tarps for most of the year when they are not in use, and of course the cost question. But really, if they cared about how it looked would they plan on playing 3 years in a baseball stadium? I'm doubtful they will bother.

So yesterday the Atlanta expansion announcement went from "everybody knows this will be announced on Wednesday but it's not official yet" to being officially acknowledged by the league and the ownership group. 2017 season will be the start date.
