Just a heads up for Ron & Fez listeners: Californication is about to start up again.

In an era of The Wire, Mad Men, and Game of Thrones (Shows that Ron dismisses) we'll get to hear Ron talk about his favorite dogshit Showtime sitcom, preaching to us about how cool it is to be a writer and that's what makes that show great. Hey Ron, if you revere good writing so much how about watching Mad Men or even *gasp* Game of Thrones for great dialogue by capable writers instead of David Duchovny plodding through lovely storyline after lovely storyline. As knowledgeable as Ron can be about some things, sometimes his 90s, Tampa, shock-jock, suit-jacket-sleeves-rolled-up roots really show.

Sorry that's a huge pet peeve of mine. That, and the fact that Ron can't say "drawing" without pronouncing it "drawling", but yeah Fez is the one that mispronounces stuff. How about calling it pissketti and meatballs too.

"Pfft, Game of Thrones is for babies. Even the previews make me embarrassed. Also Lord of the Rings is for babies too. And The Hobbit. Fantasy is for babies. Also comic book movies make me angry. Why does Hollywood make that poo poo? It's for babies. Except for Green Hornet, which I love (but only because everyone else hated it). The only movies that are worth watching are the ones that you can only see at one theater on a side street in NY City. Who cares if you live 500 miles away, you should drive that to see this movie."

Californication shouldn't have been renewed after season 1. It was an interesting concept for a show but the premise didn't have the legs for a long run.

He so obviously goes out of his way to dislike the popular thing for no good reason and gushes over obscure crap. It makes the interviews on the show awful because they are usually some nobody plugging some awful indie garbage that Ron has decided to champion because nobody has heard of it.

I found it amusing that he keeps playing the clip of Pepper stumbling through his "like, different visions. ..." answer when Ron asked him why he likes indie movies. Ron has said the exact same thing himself numerous times.

The only other problem i have is the fact that he thinks that every band/musician from the 70s are automatically geniuses and everything after is terrible.

Yeah, he had bacterial meningitis. He was in studio after that though, so he seemed to recover. Jim said that Otto took a nap and just didn't wake up.

Today they talked about Otto's "demons" and drug use, with Bob Levy calling in saying that Otto "finally got control of his life." So who knows what his drug use was like in recent years, but they definitely used to mention him stories about Rich Vos copping crack and such.
