Moose and Molly is so pleasant because it's like a backwards sitcom. Instead of getting home after a family outing, complaining that his wife's mother is there, then telling the kids to leave him alone because he needs to relax in a hammock forever, Moose does the complete opposite and enjoys life.

To the best of my knowledge food gets served on plates and the people eating the food get silverware to eat their food with Unless they're supposed to use the cookies at the end of the table as buns for the meat and scoops for the mashed potatoes.

My Lovely Horse posted:Help me out here, is it a thing to not give people plates? Some shelters/soup kitchens use unbreakable rectangular plates with dividers in them, kind of like "TV Dinner" trays. They're easy for the guests to handle and there's less chance of spilling. Plus you only have one thing to run through the dishwasher instead of two, so you can have fewer volunteers on cleanup and more on the serving line. The good ones also have compartments for the silverware and cup. Frank just didn't draw in all the little dividers. [edited to fix the extraneous "s". Kevin Frank, not Franks. Also to give props to him for yet another strip with a religious message that is sweet and straightforward but not cloying or heavy-handed. Because God forbid we have something colorful in a Funky Winkerbean Sunday strip. It seems like it's been awhile since we've had a Classic Popeye Sunday with Wimpy being a dick. So here's Wimpy, being a dick. (c. 1942) At least he's sharing this time. And speaking of doing awful things to people, Pogo wrings laughs out of contaminating the environment! Kammat posted:Modesty Blaise We finished the second half of the Modesty Blaise movie last night and it, well.. ended. The plot became pretty crazy, which basically involved Modesty and Willy shooting at anything that moved, and pretty much all of the bad guys dying in weird and hilarious ways. There was sort of a denouement, I guess, after the island they were on was stormed by a bunch of Arabs. Yeah. Several of the ending fight scenes looked more like Benny Hill skits to me. All in all, it's a very watchable movie that gets a bit confusing, and downright weird in spots. Now that I think about it, not unlike the Modesty strips, I guess. Speaking of weird, nth-ing the love for the Thel edits! I'd totally forgotten about those! Well, the peacock/peahen "joke" doesn't make much sense either because peacock is what we call the animals as a whole, unless they're actually called peabirds or something. I've never heard them referred to as anything but peacocks other than when specifically calling out the gender differences, and even then it's usually more like, "male peacocks have beautiful plumage to attract female peacocks." TL;DR English is dumb and the comic is worse.

BlankIsBeautiful posted:ZNJ is just not making any sense. If this is from a book, the book must be drat near incomprehensible. Has anyone read any of the original books? They seem to have decent reviews. I wonder if the comic strip team may be assuming that readers know a bunch of backstory that would make this less disjointed. FWIW, none of the plot synopses on Goodreads match the strip at all, so maybe the comic is a "further adventures" kind of thing. All of which is to say that yes, the strip doesn't make any sense at all, the art is sloppy and self-indulgent, and the pacing is terrible. I keep hoping it will get better.
