I think the point is Z3n is a space cowboy on the edge of a frontier unknown to man, he's out there pushing the limits, trail braking into the abyss. Finding out where the edge of the razor is, turning to face the darkness and revving his 690 into it's vast gaze. You gotta live this to learn it bro.

Hah. I remember receiving one of those after finishing the MSF course I took years ago. I kept it in my bathroom for the first week or two and read through it/admired the pictures :allears:

This is loving great, you should scan the whole thing at high resolution. Looks like some prime avatar material, too.

Sanchezz bought his for 1800, IIRC. There were 2 available for under a grand that needed work on BARF awhile back. The bikes are rare but not particularly valuable, due to the issues Sanchezz mentioned.

This is actually one of my favorite things. I'm doing it for another buddy (who used to post here). He's going to fly in, do the trackday, and then ride it back. Or maybe hitch a ride with Spiffness, I dunno. He doesn't usually plan these sort of things that far in advance :D

Once I get my garage in order, I'd strongly consider it for people who promised not to be idiots about it. Thus far it seems to have worked out just fine for krapski, Spiff, and I don't see why it's not going to work out for grizzledmelkeba too.

What about buying a motorbike and leaving it in your garage so after the first month of winter and me questioning my sanity for moving back to Toronto, I could just fly to california and ride my bike around for a bit?

I assume importing modern bikes is a nightmare in NZ as well, but just so you know, I vaguely remember raising the idea of wrapping the gixxer z3n bought/pimped with my cash in old goldwing fairings to be able to bring it home via Australia's pre-1989 import loophole. (Old bike? No expensive / complicated compliance bullshit). I still think this is a sound plan, and given how cheap bikes are in the US, SOMEONE should crate a z3n special home to the antipodes one day. ~$1500 in shipping is still a bargain when you consider the low price of ludicrous horsepower in the Bay Area.

Slavvy
Dec 11, 2012

I've thought along similar lines. Accounting for $1500's shipping and $600 compliance for NZ roads, getting a $2,500 fireblade would still be an absolute bargain.

Yup I'd be up for that, sounds like a fun/stupid idea. CA to TN would be a long haul and buying something reasonable for distance doesn't seem fun...hmm cross country supermoto or streetfighter?

I get that just a change in fairings would probably fool 99% of the population, but won't they run the VIN at some point?

ABS might help, too, I wager. They're running unfinished bikes without it IMO.

I'm thinking about checking out the WSBK event at Laguna Seca in July, maybe they'll have ABS by then.
