This one is fantastic! I'd love a poster of that. Flash's face going from happy to punched is perfect.

Why does Superman always want to kill his girlfriend and gently caress with Jimmy Olsen? Not a Superman fan so I'm genuinely curious.

Even if the comics themselves are nothing like the covers, I like the idea of Superman dealing with social issues rather than just fighting bad guys. Is there a series about a super hero just trying to ruin his friends' lives?

Cosima posted:Why does Superman always want to kill his girlfriend and gently caress with Jimmy Olsen? Not a Superman fan so I'm genuinely curious. Because a lot of those comics were actually Lois Lane or Jimmy Olsen comics, not Superman ones. Another weird thing about them was how Superman would go to elaborate lengths just to not lie to people. He would create situations where people would assume things and he just wouldn't correct them. Which seems a little more dishonest to me.

Baron von Eevl posted:I think they did a couple issues of Jimmy Olsen where he turned into an ape, as well. They used to just reuse issues (redo the art and script very minimally) all the time, since they figured their readers would only be buying issues for a few years and probably wouldn't have been buying them the last time they ran that story. There are TWO separate issues where Jimmy Olson is worried about losing his job as a reporter to a talking ape in people clothes. They came out less than a year apart. edit: Apparently I was wrong on a few counts. The first ape was not in people clothes, and the issues were #24 and #116, quite far apart. double edit: Here's the Jimmy covers, if anybody is interested: http://www.comiccovers.com/image.php?dir=Supermans%20Pal%20Jimmy%20Olsen%20[DC]%20V1 ARGH edit: does anyone know how to put brackets in BBCode theflyingorc has a new favorite as of 23:20 on Apr 24, 2014 |

Jerry Cotton posted:The answer is in removing the "with". During the old TV show they wanted to run a commercial with Lois Lane and Clark Kent eating some breakfast cereal together. The censors wouldn't let them because that would imply they'd had sex the previous night. So they replaced Lois Lane with Jimmy Olsen, problem solved.
