TV Tropes Wiki was started by fans. People, that is, who like stuff. You will see that articles work better here when they are about something you like. This is a little bit of a shock to folks that are used to cynicism about the media. It takes a minute or two to get used to.

People who come looking for a place to bash stuff and rant about how dumb this or that is are in for some disappointment. Here, anyway. There are plenty of places on the 'Net to bash stuff. Shouldn't be too hard to find one.

"You jerks can go on all those other sites to make fun of how dumb my favorite cartoon series ostensibly aimed at children is. I'll be here on TV Tropes, a hugbox full of people who actually like stuff. :smug:"

We consider every work notable. But works that are nothing but porn aren't appropriate to host on this site. We don't need porn in order to understand storytelling.

Administrivia: The Content Policy and the 5P Circuit is just full of an insane/inane number of :words: that could easily be summed up in one sentence: STOP POSTING PORN AND PEDOSHIT YOU ASSHOLES!

It shows just how immature and ill-equipped tropers are at being able to discuss anything even remotely sexual without needing several huge loving articles walking them step by step through the reasons why porn and pedophilia is no longer allowed on the site. And there are still many, many discussion threads dedicated to what should be a simple concept for them.

quote:

Q: Is the content policy going to change?
A: Certain aspects of the policy might be relaxed in the future (e.g so that works that are porn get locked instead of cut) if the circumstances that lead to the implementation of the policy disappear (i.e if we get better page curation and more reliable sources of income), but for now, there won't be any changes to the policy.

In other words, they would totally still have porn on the site if Fast Eddie had a different source of funding than Google AdSense. Makes me wish he would win the lottery or something so TV Tropes could be 100% independent and self-sustaining. :allears:

quote:

Also, in the case of H Games, there is this questioning to fill up:

When are the sex scenes located?
Are they spread out over the game?
How much gameplay is there between sex scenes?
Are they only at the endings?
How hard do you have to work to get an ending?
Are they in every ending? Every good ending?
Are the sex scenes optional via a choice in the menu?
Would the story make sense without them with minimal or no rewriting?
Are the scenes made up of stills, or are they animated?
How explicit are the sex scenes?

So, wait: porn is still allowed, but only if it fits our arbitrary criteria?

I was curious enough about a non-supernatural "creepypasta" (God, what an idiot word) to look it up; for anyone who hasn't read it, it's basically, "What if there was a Pokémon hack that let you KILL EVERYONE and then DIE???" It ends with this sage conclusion:

quote:

It seems he [the hack's creator] was trying to convey a message; though it seems I am the sole receiver of this message. I’m not entirely sure what it was — the inevitability of death? The pointlessness of it? Perhaps he was simply trying to morbidly inject death and darkness into a children’s game. Regardless, this children’s game has made me think, and it has made me cry.

The problem with most video game horror stories is that video games are computer programs, and writers are only rarely actually programmers. However, the people who write those video game horror stories usually rely on 'program glitch' type 'haunting,' which never reads properly, because they're not willing to admit that they're just writing ghost stories. Oh, the funny game's doing something serious and it's spawned you in a weird blank room with DIE written on the wall in gold coins you can't collect and now Mario's crying. And then nightmares, which are always stupid because they never go into the body horror that made the very first one work.

The only exception that I've seen so far is The Princess, a story written by a goon, which uses actual programming glitches- dropped textures, forced T-poses, forced orientation, game slowdowns- to set up the horror, and lets the obsessive nature of gamers do the actual damage.

Not but a week after getting the idea to write 90 Has No Secant, the Dozerfleet founder attended FILM 203 class and was told he'd be watching The Ring. Some of the strange kids sitting in the back of class cheered, and wondered "how?" They knew about the upcoming movie. The Dozerfleet founder hadn't heard. The teacher then explained that his class would be watching the Japanese version.

It was okay. Not great. As soon as the Dozerfleet founder was able, he went out to the theaters and saw the Dreamworks version, so as to be able to compare the two for class. He was briefly dragged into the fandom for that movie, discovering that unfortunately, he was among the few conservatives that found anything to like about it. Most of the fandom, it turned out, consisted of very intolerant liberals, most of whom were on marijuana.

Blaming those Muslims who were not interested in being controlled by the Brotherhood for the empire falling apart when it was really the Brotherhood's fault all along.

The Brotherhood is trying to once again shift the blame for something they did wrong over a century ago. And this rebuilding effort is little more than them seeking validation of what their ancestors did over a century ago. They cannot tolerate history judging them and deeming them unfit for rule because they backed Kaiser Wilhelm.
