During the old TV show they wanted to run a commercial with Lois Lane and Clark Kent eating some breakfast cereal together. The censors wouldn't let them because that would imply they'd had sex the previous night. So they replaced Lois Lane with Jimmy Olsen, problem solved.

Okay, I get that it would be because 'they spent the night together and then ate together in the morning before parting ways' but that's such a weird implication. If you saw two people eating breakfast would you really read that much into it?

The 50s were so prudish you couldn't even show married couples' bedrooms with a single bed because god forbid anyone think a young married couple was boning! Television Standards & Practices censorship has always been more than a little weird.

Leave it to Beaver had an episode that required showing a toilet for plot purposes and there was a huge argument about how much of the toilet they could show.

Just to clarify, according to Snopes the network was very reluctant to show the actual bathroom, let alone a toilet. In the end only the toilet tank was shown onscreen.

If you guys are talking about the circle under the brake light, it's just an emblem. It's a throwback to the Mustangs of the '60s when that was the gas cap.

No, they're talking about the black bump on the middle of the trunk lid. It's the antenna for satellite radio/GPS.

The Haunted Tank is actually entirely appropriate to the current discussion of weird poo poo, because the whole premise of Haunted Tank is that there's a M3 Stuart haunted... by the ghost of J.E.B. Stuart.

I don't know comic book stuff, but is that actually supposed to be the premise? Because that's most assuredly not an M3 Stuart on that cover. It looks to be modeled on a Sherman variant.

This is basically the premise behind the comic Irredeemable. The Superman-analog in that world decides one day cracks the shits at the world and says, gently caress it, who's going to stop me? Then he rampages through his hometown and levels it, and does other delightful things such as pushing the island of Singapore under the ocean.

Well, that is the premise. And the tank commander is named Jeb Stuart, he's General Stuart's descendant, and he's the only one who can see the ghost. It's very weird, but also pretty awesome.

There's an issue where the M3 Stuart haunted by General Stuart meets a M4 Sherman haunted by General Sherman. I've never read it, but I want to so very dearly.
