Yeah, that's the fundamental thing about Palin - she always chases the easiest dollar. She ran up more than $100,000 in clothes bills in two months to buy designer outfits for her family, she was so eager to grab the money instead of playing it smart and cashing much bigger checks later. She has no patience and no follow-through (how many colleges did she flunk out of before getting her degree?) - her current low-effort gig as gadfly, paid speaker, and reality show oddity suits her just fine. No way is she going to spend four months going from pancake breakfast to veterans day parade to county fair in Iowa, or sit down and learn all the different countries in the world, or how the federal reserve works, or anything like that.

I was on a jury last year that included resisting arrest as one of the charges, and even the cops own testimony on what the defendant did to "resist arrest" was nothing more than "pull is arm away after it was grabbed from behind a couple times." It really felt like a means of justifying them throwing the guy to the pavement. We very easily found the guy not guilty of resisting.

One thing that can be hard to remember is that (at least for me) when going to freep for quotes you only grab the worst. In pretty much every thread there are some decent posts/posters. Not as many as there used to be, but they are still there. I go through a lot of threads and posts to grab the ones I do. Also, pretty much no one is all terrible. Even dalereed likes hotrods.

That and police brutality and one other topic I can't remember at the moment are two they are consistently fairly decent on.

It was what she'd been preparing for all her life, but even she could not believe the incredible chance that had just fallen into her lap. To suddenly advance her quiet scheme to discredit the Republican Party from within from a backwoods state to a nationwide platform. To help push the first black candidate over the threshold and into the Presidency!

Contemporaries would revile her. History would despise her. Was she really prepared to face that? The previous 8 years of nationalism, war, and oligarchy flashed through her head. Suppressing a shudder of revulsion, she squared her shoulders and lifted her gaze, as if staring through the walls of her office.

"Governor Palin," repeated the voice on the telephone, "Will you accept Senator McCain's offer to be his Vice-Presidential nominee?"

Her lips trembled, but her voice held firm, "You betcha!" she replied confidently "Oh I'd be honored ya know."

This is what happens when the Alinskyite clowns in the White House try to pick freeze, personalize, and polarize the leader of a belligerent foreign country.
These idiots think everything can be reduced to a political campaign.

Personally, I'm so mistrusting of all these people at this point that I would not be surprised if all of this is cover while Obama continues to work with Putin.

Obama is going to start WWIII precisely because he has ZERO diplomatic experience. Or military experience. Or foreign relations experience.

If only we could somehow organize the Russian military into a community, then we’d have Putin licked!

Sounds as if the US under this cockamamie Administration has amateurishly wandered right up to the brink of war.

My hope is that FR folks use judicious and wise use of their words on FR, at least until we are past what appears to be coming.

Dear Mr. Putin,

One Request.

If you decide to EMP us, please instead of detonating one Giant EMP device over Kansas, please instead detonate two smaller deivces, one between Washington D.C. and NYC, and the other Between LA and SanFranSicko.

Thanks.

Signed the Heartland.

P.S. I recommend not trying to invade us after doing this.

(the above post is dripping in sarcasm)

Well, it’s not entirely unexpected is it? We have a Muslim in charge of a purged military surrounded by Machivelli clones. And best of all, all that stands between them is a group of republicans who opposed NOTHING this arseclown has done in any meaningful way and could have tied his hands years ago.

They did NOTHING.

There is a group on the right that needs to take a very serious look in the mirror right now and tell them self that they were very mistaken. That electing principled people really DOES matter. And WW3 on the doorstep is pretty much WHY it matters.
Or DID matter. Because at the rate this is going, they are likely to never have to worry about voting or anything else again. I hope that isn’t the case, but it is not looking good.

And if, by the grace of God alone this does not escalate further, they may wish to consider that.

Jesus Christ. I have no idea why this one really jumped out at me, what with all the usual homophobic bigotry they display, but this one did. Goddamn they really are just letting their seething hatred out on display in all it's glory now.

They're actively cheering on the efforts of an authoritarian nutjob to stymie diplomatic efforts because they don't like the President. It's gotta be a sickness.

How dare the government suggest that kids have healthier eating habits? Tyranny!
How dare the government suggest that kids take an STD vaccine? Tyranny!
How dare the government not forbid same sex relations when they have higher STD rates? Tyranny!

Actually while they have been slipping more and more in regards to racist epithets I still remember when they referred to homosexuals as "FDRQs" 9 times out of 10.

More than that, they're cheering the idea of said authoritarian nutjob invading America and calling themselves patriotic for it.
