I'm no fan of Israel's apartheid policy or human rights violations, but being a minority ruled by a majority with a rich, long history of hating Jews a reasonable thing to be weary of. The whole reason for Israel's founding was to have a state where Jews would not become second class citizens again. Most early zionists were far from religious nuts, and came from socialist schools of political thought. It's not a religious fanaticism, as much as a concern and a paranoia about becoming a minority that's freely abused again.

Fair point, I was just curious. So how about John Boehner and immigration reform? http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Latest-News-Wires/2014/0429/Immigration-reform-too-hard-for-Republicans-Boehner-says-he-was-just-teasing "Here's the attitude. Ohhhh. Don't make me do this. Ohhhh. This is too hard," Boehner whined before a luncheon crowd at Brown's Run County Club in Madison Township. "We get elected to make choices. We get elected to solve problems and it's remarkable to me how many of my colleagues just don't want to ... They'll take the path of least resistance." Boehner said he's been working for 16 or 17 months trying to push Congress to deal with immigration reform. "I've had every brick and bat and arrow shot at me over this issue just because I wanted to deal with it. I didn't say it was going to be easy," he said.

The rest of the big business donors would be fine with putting it to rest this way. So question is who runs the GOP and who picks the messaging

Feds should go in with nonlethal force: tear gas, riot shields, etc. Then, if anyone dies, it's the people they've sent in, and it makes the militia types look REALLY bad.

Let's hope that this ends without anybody getting hurt, because I don't see any good outcomes otherwise. edit: ^ this too

Do we have anything showing that the checkpoints are a pattern of harassment?
