I like this interview, but a little after the four minute mark, Adam Copeland reveals that he understands he'll always be "Edge" to a percentage of people. That was interesting to me, because most any other time, you hear about calling wrestlers by their first names whenever you see them to be disrespectful - you'd never go up to the Undertaker and say "Hey, Mark!" and things like that. So to hear it coming from him almost sounded like a loose lamentation, like he'd breathe a sigh of relief over not being called Edge, not that he begrudges it, but because it's a past chapter in his life.

I'd call him Adam, anyway.

I find it interesting that he had to "come to terms," with the fact that he'll always be Edge to some people and that throughout his career he continued to introduce himself as Adam to people. He always seemed like one of those Mick Foley in-the-blood kind of guys who'd WANT to be remembered as Edge and if not because it was painful to think he couldn't do it anymore. It's almost shocking to think that even from the start he saw the Sad Stories and the guys who couldn't ever let go and resolved to never go that far even as he was continuing to climb toward the top of the industry and fighting tooth and nail to be a World Champ and one of WWE's top guys.

Mr. Copeland is an interesting guy.

It's not a huge leap to think that he wanted to be at the top of his profession, but not be broke and rickety and probably dead by the time he hit 50 like so many others in that profession.

I don't know what kinda deal WWF had with Regis and Kathy Lee but wrestlers used to show up on there all the time. I can't tell you how many times I'd beg my mother to record that show for me when one showed up.

Regis is a big wrestling fan, apparently, so that probably had something to do with all the wrestler guests. He also helped out at Wrestlemania VII doing interviews and iirc was on guest commentary for the Hogan match.

I love how he tears apart the set so carefully after Regis wants him to get all crazy, then ever so gently sits down, shakes their hand and acts like everything is normal. :allears:

E: Also caught during Raw that WWE had done a memorial documentary after Warrior passed away, it's up on Youtube for anyone that wants to take a peek (about an hour long):

It's actually really well done, getting to hear people from both sides talk about the past and present and remember the Warrior for the crazy, outlandish, energetic character he was :unsmith: Rest in peace, you gave us some great memories big guy

In the weeks leading up to company's return, they're having random Chikara guys mention their favorite matches from the company's history, which are then uploaded onto YouTube in full. Today it was Scott Parker, Shane Matthews, Ebessan and Takoyakida vs Colt Cabana, Swamp Monster, Darkness Crabtree and Yohnel Sanders from 2012. One of the funniest wrestling matches I've ever seen.

"There was a gentleman dressed up as Colonel Sanders. And when I asked everyone WHY he dresses like Colonel Sanders, nobody could give me an answer, he just does. Why was everyone singing the Canadian National Anthem before the match? Who knows? Why was Duck, Duck, Goose being played? Who knows?"

Another one of the picks was Fire Ant vs. Vin Gerard from 2008, which is also one of my favorite match endings.

The Vin Gerard vs Fire Ant has one of my favorite spots in pro wrestling.

Vin Gerard drags Fire Ant all the way back to the back in order to try and win by count-out, something that I've never seen anyone ever try before

I wanna see WWE go back to letting guys improvise their own stuff again, especially doing the pre-tape interviews.

Ya know, up until now, I've never actually *watched* a Wrestling Bear match. So I always just assumed that the reason it was always done back in the day is because it was a novel gimmick.
Now i know that it was simply because a bear sort of looks like he's wrestling when he paws at you. That's it. Thats The Joke. I mean, I've seen better matches put on by

Bears can do snap mares and they look kind of OK. There's some fun wrestling bear matches and lots of really bad ones. Not that much happens in the fun ones, the bear sometimes starts attacking the ref and then his opponent counts 3.

My favorite spot in that tag match is when Bryan applies a submission that Jigsaw tries to weakly forearm his way out of, and Dragon gets so mad at the lack of power behind the forearm that he just lights Jigsaw the gently caress up with mounted forearms, while Quack is on the apron pretty much literally doing :ughh:, like "Dammit, I taught him better than that". Meanwhile the crowd's losing their poo poo at Jigsaw getting beat like Danielson caught him breaking into his house.

That's because everyone hates Jigsaw, and seeing Jigsaw get the poo poo beat out of him is the highlight of every CHIKARA show. He's John Cena except worse in every way that matters and he's not even a decent person outside of the ring to make up for it. :v:
