It's almost shocking to think that even from the start he saw the Sad Stories and the guys who couldn't ever let go and resolved to never go that far even as he was continuing to climb toward the top of the industry and fighting tooth and nail to be a World Champ and one of WWE's top guys. Mr. Copeland is an interesting guy.

It's not a huge leap to think that he wanted to be at the top of his profession, but not be broke and rickety and probably dead by the time he hit 50 like so many others in that profession.

Regis is a big wrestling fan, apparently, so that probably had something to do with all the wrestler guests. He also helped out at Wrestlemania VII doing interviews and iirc was on guest commentary for the Hogan match.

Crossposting from the Chikara thread. In the weeks leading up to company's return, they're having random Chikara guys mention their favorite matches from the company's history, which are then uploaded onto YouTube in full. Today it was Scott Parker, Shane Matthews, Ebessan and Takoyakida vs Colt Cabana, Swamp Monster, Darkness Crabtree and Yohnel Sanders from 2012. One of the funniest wrestling matches I've ever seen. "There was a gentleman dressed up as Colonel Sanders. And when I asked everyone WHY he dresses like Colonel Sanders, nobody could give me an answer, he just does. Why was everyone singing the Canadian National Anthem before the match? Who knows? Why was Duck, Duck, Goose being played? Who knows?" Another one of the picks was Fire Ant vs. Vin Gerard from 2008, which is also one of my favorite match endings.

The Destroyer was amazing. First up, The Destroyer and Gino Brito set up a Figure 4 Challenge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ooa9pUMnDzs and the classic, The Destroyer wrestles a bear and does commentary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTMcg6535xE If you haven't seen the Destroyer vs the Bear you need to see it, and the Brito angle is really fun too. Destroyer mixes comedy and being a huge dick better than almost anyone I've ever seen.

My favorite spot in that tag match is when Bryan applies a submission that Jigsaw tries to weakly forearm his way out of, and Dragon gets so mad at the lack of power behind the forearm that he just lights Jigsaw the gently caress up with mounted forearms, while Quack is on the apron pretty much literally doing , like "Dammit, I taught him better than that". Meanwhile the crowd's losing their poo poo at Jigsaw getting beat like Danielson caught him breaking into his house.
