A woman is sueing the parents of a child she killed on a bicycle (accidentally, sounds like it was the child's fault).

Anthony defends said woman for sueing the family.

This is a gimmick right?

I love how even that lovely song is stolen. It's from a early 90's cranberry juice commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbcrqpi5OCc

Todd's never done an original thing in his life.

It's kind of complicated and weird. The woman hit kids that were riding on a patch of highway at 1:30 in the morning without lights or proper reflector gear. She apparently wasn't drinking or anything, and she was going about 5mph over the speed limit; apparently she just didn't see them. When she was found not to be at fault, the families sued her for about a million dollars claiming she was "speeding, under the influence, or texting," just firing a bunch of accusations at her and hoping one would stick. She countersued, and now a lot of the reports on the subject kind of fail to mention the context of the situation.

The way he rants about that one I thought he would never come around. Especially since in his line of work he's about one of the only people who can spout poo poo freely without getting their rear end canned.

Holy gently caress, listened to the call from South Africa today on the replay on my way home. My god man, they went on like fifty tangents, let the guy maybe say a total of ten words, then Opie called him boring and Anthony accused him of faking the whole thing because Anthony doesn't know how time zones work. God drat amazing.

It's really sad that in a modern age, if you try and present the slightest semblance of rationale in any direction that isn't in support of the current "Most Oppressed Subculture", you're openly marked for losing your livelihood and your entire internet presence being destroyed.

A virtual, amorphous lynch mob enforcing "If you're not with us, you're against us (and should be removed from everything ever)" in 2014. This is what most of the Internet has become.

Meanwhile, let's get in some cam girls :v:

Freedom of speech in its essence is the right to express any thought, free from government censorship.

Repercussions from individuals or private organisations just aren't covered by that right.

The Computer guy said some odd stuff which may have been a poorly worded expression of his opinion, but he did it in a public forum which very directly links to the company he works for. The other definitely racist guy as far as I know said what he did in private, as unacceptable as it was.

The bottom line is money for the associated organisations in both instances.

The difference is that I'm not of the opinion that people's privacy should be violated if they're racist, yes, or that people should be fired for questioning whether a clandestine recording published by TMZ should be completely allowed (and not questioned AT ALL) because gently caress racism? The difference of opinion being that people's lives should be destroyed for opinions they hold rather than actions they take?

But hey don't take my word for it, you can have a real life black person chime in.

Did I say that a person's privacy should be violated if they're a racist or did I say that a person shouldn't expect for there to be no consequences when something negative leaks out about them? And that's strange you know what I think about the community director guy when I never brought it up.

(The community director guy didn't deserve to get fired since he's a nobody but, if you put yourself out there publicly, you have to be prepared for potential blow back. A company isn't obligated to stand by you, whether you're some guy poorly trying to make a point or some dumb bitch in Dunkin Donuts acting like the worst person ever)

And, for some reason, I don't think you read past the first paragraph of that Kareem Abdul Jabbar article.

He not only doesn't try to excuse Sterling's actions but he says that Sterling should have been publicly shamed years ago. Granted, he makes the same flawed NSA comparison that Jimmy did but there's a gigantic difference between the government recording somebody else's phone call/leaking it and somebody recording a conversation they're apart of/leaking it. One's absolutely wrong while the other is morally shady.
