Coloccini confirms he's staying at Newcastle next season. Have to say he hasn't been that impressive this season, but that's the whole team. If the off field distractions are over and he's back to form I'll be happy enough I suppose. One less player to ineptly try and replace in an off season where we need so many already.

I've got a feeling this summer is going to be like January 2013 where Ashley himself got involved to speed things up because transfers were so necessary. That and Kinnear isn't here at least which has got to help

I doubt Martinez will want to leave this summer until he realises he has no chance of replacing Lukaku or Delofeu. Cant see him going to Spurs though, there's been talk in the Spanish press about Barcelona, and I could see him getting the nod after the next election, whenever that is.

Idg why you want Sherwood bse, you're a good lad and I want your team to win things and Sherwood is dogshit!!

I was right about Poyet keeping Sunderland up and I'm right about Sherwood being a good manager.

On top of that after the dirge that Hughton put us through I hope I never see another defensive midfielder again and Sherwood will make that dream come true.

I'd guess yes but I don't think it's that set in stone. Rodgers was the clear choice for 70% of the season, so it depends how long peoples memories are. What they've both done from where their teams were to where they are now is pretty special work. I saw that Pulis was ahead with the bookies even before last night though so I think the scale has tipped enough for him now.

I'd give it to Pulis in all honesty. While 7th to 1st or 2nd is impressive, Crystal Palace looked done and dusted for a while.

It'd take a miracle (and two 4-0 scorelines) but I'd love for him to finish above Stoke.

Inclined to agree tbh, with the caveat that if Rodgers gets third he be fired (subjunctive mood)

No. Pulis has the second best defensive record, behind Chelsea, and only just conceded his first set piece. With a side dead last in the prem on 1st dec, I think he'll be the third manager to ever avoid the drop in that situation, and the first to finish higher than 17th.

You got loving ruined by Yannick Bolassie. Jason Puncheon has been on fire. What he's done with a team of mostly dreck has been far above what Rodgers would have achieved even if he won the league, for serious.

Not that I remember, I think he felt he'd been pretty hard done by with getting sacked, and it seems like he was right.

Stoke are doing fine without him. He was there for 7 years - it's possible for it to be the right time for a team to move in a different direction without it being an indictment of the current manager.

He went and talked to the owner's son who does the day to day running of the club now. The result of their discussions was that he and the son had different ideas on how to move the club forward and that he wasn't the right person to lead those changes. The result is that his contract wasn't extended and he went to do punditry for the new BT sport pregame show. At no point did he, the club, the fans or the players say they were unhappy with each other.

Except for meatwagon but he is a horrible git.

Also, I'm of the opinion that Pulis should be winning Manager of the Season and thought so even before last night's match. I think if Liverpool had won (or do win, I guess) the league, Rodgers would win it on principle, but I wouldn't necessarily agree with it considering everyone on the planet wrote off Palace for relegation at Christmas. What he's done there is really remarkable.

Made it to fourth, pipping Arsenal there, until bottling it at the end of the season, allowing Arsenal to reclaim their rightful, fourth-place slot. Yep, he'll do.

I'm also thinking in terms of the kind of players Tottenham has. He might be tempted because I don't see how Everton can do better next season. Maybe if they had gotten some of that sweet Champions League money but eh
