Eric Berry's Cap hit next year is over $8m. I'd agree with trading Flowers away, but probably not Hali. Hell, Berry is going to continue to be great, but it's going to have to be cheaper than $8m a year. That's nuts. I'd be fine with trading him for a second if we could get someone with his level of talent. So I'm not fine with trading him.

It really surprises me that if you would like someone so much, especially a QB, that you would wait and hope he is still available at 26. Since the restructuring of the CBA, it almost encourages taking a gamble on a QB earlier. You aren't financially tied to the player like you were with the previous agreement. If it turns your guy is a bust, gently caress it, jettison him after 2-3 years. But if he hits then you've got him locked up at an extremely reasonable salary for 5 years. Granted, this is all blue skies scenarios here and a GM usually doesn't have the luxury of this approach but I think it sounds reasonable.
