Drifter posted:I HATE HATE HATE those stupid Justin Rowland short things, not because they're gross or anything but because they're lazy and just lovely, but I swear to god the Rick and Morty stuff is some of the most entertaining television I've seen in years. Drifter posted:Taken as a process, sure, but self contained they are pretty lovely with overdrawn jokes that are stale and one noted and unoriginal - that's what I mean by lazy, not that it doesn't take an amount of work to create output. They are an 8 year old's version of what humor is. I get that you want to defend him, but note I'm not saying he's a bad person or anything, simply that when a person is yet again raping a kid, or loving a kid in their shoulder, or cutting their face off, it's just...it's the torture porn of humor. There's nothing else to it. It's a little kid yelling 'Penis!' at a supermarket. It's 'technically' part of what humor can be, in that it pushes against expectations and societal norms of behavior, but without anything else to it, it's a very singular, unrefined and lazy way to do it. Glad we've got Dr. Jokes in this thread again to make sure we find and map exactly out how and why Rick and Morty is funny.

I just realised... The first episode, when morty is dealing with the whole neutrino bomb. Look at Morty's pants. They're white. Compared to blue. It's a different goddamn reality. That is an alternate rick and morty. That rick and morty is blown to smitherines. EDIT: It isn't a fakeout. They are both blown up, the rick and morty we are introduced to aren't the ones we watch. Goddamn this show is amazing. SCheeseman fucked around with this message at 05:14 on May 8, 2014 |

We've actually seen a couple of Rick and Morty alternates. It's pretty hilarious knowing if something bad happens to them (aka be killed) it's the alternative reality of Rick and Morty. The 27 images of the Rickicide was the icing on the cake. Especially the one with Rick up his own rear end.

Wasn't the pilot made separately from the rest of the season? The animation and even writing are pretty different to go back to after watching the whole shebang. I'd say a lot of the differences stem from that, but your theory that it was a different reality is correct, since Rick Potion #9 was originally slated to be the third episode after Lawnmower Dog. Believing they blew up in the cold open is just as valid as not. In fact, there must certainly be a reality where the bomb did go off then. Personally, I like to think that Rick in the pilot just lost/killed his "original" Morty and, in a drunken stupor, has wandered into another reality where he drops into "our" Morty's life. I'm sure we will nitpick and sperg until season two, but for me the Tiny Rogerts throwaway in the finale definitely points to our Rick not being from our version of reality.

Probably. I mean I'm not super serious about the alternate time line rick and morty thing. I thought the would give it away.

Community was just cancelled. The upside hopefully will be that Harmon has more time to spend making Rick and Morty even more awesome.

http://video.adultswim.com/rick-and-morty/pilot.html Adult Swim has most of the episodes. The only thing is they expire, but this one doesn't expire til the 31st of this month. edit: Scratch that, doesn't expire til 2015 of March.

I can't wait to hear the commentary and see how much "bonus" content they decide to include. I hope a few of Justin's weirder things sneaks into it.

Well that means S2 of R&M will be the greatest season of TV ever and S3 will disappear up its own rear end. Maybe Roiland and Harmon each rein each other in in complementary ways and that wont happen.
