Yo ho?

Speaking of inclinations, this is a public service announcement: for the love of god, check a pawn's inclinations before you hire it. I wanted to pick up a fighter since I was going to try out being a wizard, but I didn't notice that his primary inclination was Guardian. Which means he'll glue himself to your rear end and never fight anything if it doesn't come within five feet of you or him. Which it didn't, because it was a loving hydra and I was sitting back throwing spells at it.

Most worthless goddamn pawn ever

It's honestly staggering the amount of pawns that have nothing but Guardian/Medicant or Guardian/Pioneer or god forbid Guardian/Nexus. It's come to the point where if a pawn doesn't have Guardian anywhere near it, it's pretty much going to be the best choice regardless of everything else.

I'm guessing it's because people don't look up what the inclinations actually do, so they think "Guardian" means like a tank or something. And if you're playing a melee type you might not notice anything's wrong since you're always up in a monster's poo poo.

There is some definite truth to this. When I first picked up the game I assumed that is what it meant and went out of my way with my first attempt at a pawn to make them a guardian.

Yeah, I've had to dismiss pawns with the exact set of skills I'd want because they're a strider with medicant or a mage with guardian/acquisitor or the extremely common warrior or fighter with guardian/anything. A lot of medicant fighters lately too.

Teach your pawns to be good, random strangers! :argh:

Honestly it's totally understandable that someone who isn't looking at a forum or wiki wouldn't know that guardian is a horrible trap that ruins your pawn. But that doesn't make it any less frustrating when you're looking for pawns to hire.

I placed a port crystal in the Greatwall Encampment before I started the Deny Salvation quest and now it is gone. It is the saddest day. :ohdear:

Or not. I walked back and it was still there. I just couldn't port to it. I picked it up then replaced it and it worked fine.

I don't really think it's all that useful. I just do all the climbing by myself, easier to go for specific things that way.

Well, it's not like the game really explains anything in a useful way, so it's to be expected that people screw up on pawn inclinations.

Same here. Dummies are too busy picking up rocks and skulls. Just use the Neutralizing Elixir and whatever elixirs to reset the inclination whenever it drifts over to guardian.

One thing that always kept me from using Neutralizing Elixirs was the offhanded thought it would mess with all the customization I did with the Knowledge Chair. Can I reset the pawn without destroying that?

The chair just changes their inclinations.by small amounts too. Only thing unique about the chair is the frequency of their speech. Which carrys over through a neutralizer.

Since you're in the post game you just need to get Wakestones and sell them off. If you can fight the Ur-Dragon reliably, you'll get 20 every time you kill him.

Otherwise, get the three dragonkin tears (Wyvern, Drake, and Wyrm Tears together will cause every enemy to drop Wakestones in the Everfall) and do it that way.*

*I haven't done this in ages but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

Yea there was an "incident". My mage pawn got mind controlled by a near dead wyvern. She was casting a healing spell to boot. I was making my way over to slit the mage's throat when my main pawn launched me onto the wyvern. That was painful.

First fight, second fight was significantly more annoying. He spammed stone forest and that firewall move basically non stop. I had to stop going to pound town on him like every ten seconds to go pick up my pawns. And then I didn't even get the Devilsbane for it.

The 3 tears increase the drop rate of rare materials when killing monsters. No one really knows how much, though. It's only 0.60 of extra weight.

I have at least 3 extra complete sets, if anybody needs them.

Do the tears affect enemies outside the Everfall? I read somewhere that they don't...but then again, I can't really be sure. I do remember when I was fighting a drake in Post-Game with the tears still on me that he dropped like 3 tears and even more when I was save scumming the dragon forging, way more than he naturally would I reckon.

Sheltered Fusillade is decent, especially for pawns that have snap reflexes so they go around using it like they're glorified fencers and one hit killing everything. Only downside is it has no impact so can't knock things over.

The best way to farm dragonforging is by bringing rancid bait meat to the Duskmoon Tower area. There's usually a thunderwyvern or firedrake there (post-Daimon), so kill that first. If a cursed dragon doesn't spawn off of them, use the meat. Cursed dragons have a higher chance of forging equipment, and the equipment doesn't need to be upgraded. I haven't tried it pre-Daimon, but it should still work.

Cursed dragons can be tough, but they are weak against fire and torpor.

With sorcerers I don't care too much what exact skills they have unless I'm after a specific element, which is usually fire. High miasma and lassitude are good to have, and bolide/maelstrom for funsies. But really as long as their inclinations are good and their moveset isn't total trash I'll grab whatever sorcerer looks cool. I pay much more attention to mage skills. If they don't have halidom, anodyne, and spellscreen then they should be a sorcerer and I want them to go away until they are. :colbert:

Thing I learned today: lassitude is apparently a real word. Thanks, spellcheck!

Not maelstrom. It's an awesome spell that does a ton of damage, but holy poo poo you can't see a drat thing when it's being used. That's just my opinion, since my arisen is more melee-oriented.

Having a sorcerer's ring/band is definitely a plus, since it makes spells even more powerful.

As mentioned above, articulacy (faster casting) is a necessity for sorcerers. Casting time is ridiculous, especially for grand-level spells.

Sinew is good for any pawn. Nobody wants a pawn going light at 20 weight units (lbs? kg?).

Try to enhance your pawn's weapons as much as you can. Dragonforged should be the minimum, if you're in the post-game or on BBI. If you're low level, it's not as important.

At lower levels, the Queen's Clothing is probably the best armor for a pawn. Once you start farming the Everfall or BBI, you'll get better gear. I'd gift you a set, but I don't think it's possible to trade.

This page lists the archistaves form best to worst.

Are you on 360? I can give you some better gear if you need it. I have a few decent acrhistaves that I'm never going to use again.
