drafting Kipnis above him was :psyduck:

Kipnis was a bad-rear end last season. It's hard to evaluate what Utley would be like without injuries because it just feels like he's always dealing with them. A couple projection systems projected Utley and Kipnis to be very similar this season in terms of their averages. I think of Utley as the far superior defender but I don't know if that's still the case with his age.

I'm actually taking a bit of a risk here because there are more picks between now and my new pick than I have Puntos on my "I like these guys in the third round" list. :ohdear:

That being said, there are a lot of guys who are good picks here that are not on my list so I'm not too worried.

There's one Punto I really hope isn't chosen in the next 5 picks. In which case he'll probably be taken by the Astros in the next pick.

Yes. I was 100% convinced you were trading up to get him. I know he's been having a bit of a poo poo season in real life, but we're in stat nerd land where none of that matters. Craig is a RHB that can drive the gaps really well, which makes him a pretty drat good fit for PETCO.

In a vacuum I'd probably prefer Craig as a hitter, but there are like no good second basemen left

Gerrit Cole is a #3 starter, if that's the best left on the board in round 3 then you don't bother taking an SP.

I guess if OOTP has a boner for prospect rankings it's a fine choice, but irl there's a whole bunch of Puntos better than Cole out there

I think he will do fine in OOTP because the game can't really understand a pitcher with elite stuff that nevertheless doesn't miss bats.

Neither do I. :smith:

He's got some upside. Sometimes young players grow out really quickly in OOTP but, if not, he might be a little above average.
