Holy poo poo my new favorite conservative quote:

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/05/16/watch-live-operation-american-spring-warns-of-fema-roundup-civil-war-chemtrails/

The story is tracking what is supposed to be a live video stream of the event but for some unknown reason it's just some conservative radio d-leaguer taking call ins...

quote:

Another caller from Michigan said he was more concerned about government manipulation of natural resources.

“I’m so fed up with the tyranny I sold my jet ski,” the caller said. “I’m so fed up with the way the government is manipulating the water with the chemtrails, I’m afraid I can’t even use my jet ski.”

Some pretty tame stuff from AP regarding the book prize Limbaugh won

quote:

NEW YORK (AP) -- Rush Limbaugh has won a children's book prize designed to be chosen by kids themselves.

But that doesn't mean all of his voters were young people.
...
Nominees are selected by the most objective method possible, sales, while the winners are supposedly picked by kids, who vote online. But executive director Robin Adelson of the Children's Book Council and Every Child a Reader, nonprofit organizations that co-founded the awards seven years ago, acknowledged Thursday that adults could easily vote and vote multiple times, a problem not uncommon for Internet competitions.

"Every one of our finalists gets fake votes every year," Adelson told The Associated Press. "We like to think that's the enthusiasm of adults who love children's books."

Adelson cited three ways that people can vote: a widget that can be embedded in such popular kids' websites as http://www.poptropica.com , a link on the awards website (http://ccbookawards.com ) that allows individuals to vote and a link on the awards site that allows teachers, librarians and others to submit bulk votes on behalf of their institution.

Adelson said she doubted that parents or other grown-ups were voting through Poptropica, but acknowledged the awards site was more likely to be manipulated. An individual voter can vote multiple times and does not need to provide a verifiable email address or proof of his or her age. Bulk voters are required to submit a verifiable email, but there is no guarantee that a given teacher or librarian is really expressing the wishes of others.

"We send emails and make phone calls. A lot of manual labor goes into verifying (bulk voters)," Adelson said. "Do we catch them all? Of course not."

Limbaugh has touted his nomination on his radio show and on his website, https://www.rushlimbaugh.com . Adelson said Limbaugh initially enjoyed a wide lead, but that voting tightened considerably in the final weeks and the outcome was "fair and close."

"It's not as if he received millions of votes and everybody else and received 10," she said. "It was far, far closer."

Adelson said total votes this year only increased modestly, from 1.1 million to 1.2 million, and added that voting has generally gone up each year. She emphasized the awards have no mission beyond encouraging kids to read.

"We've received some hate mail," she said. "We've been accused of endorsing Rush Limbaugh and supporting Rush Limbaugh. We endorse and support children."

Limbaugh naturally starts his program off today about how the left is enraged at him winning the award, complete with a montage of the national media announcing his victory. For being hounded endlessly by the media he certainly... loves being hounded endlessly by the media.

Just think about those libtards at DU and DailyKos losing their poo poo at my victory, my friends :smuggo:

And there's the answer to my question. So it's not a selected panel of children voters, but an online poll where you have to claim you are a child. I'm also guessing the other finalists didn't have a national show advertising for them with a devoted fan base willing to vote en masse.

Jones is a loving huckster. I think he believes the very basics, that there's corruption and overreach in government. Period. The rest of it is all about the money.

Yeah, he shills poo poo. Most people like money. I'm not saying Jones is above making a buck off of his audience, but he was doing this poo poo long before he was able to start stacking Benjamins with it.

I've been listening to Alex Jones since the late 90s and he's more consistent about more topics than most mainstream talking heads and politicians. What you get from him in his documentaries and on his shows is what you get from him all the time. He once gave an introduction for standup comedian Doug Stanhope that he turned into a 10-minute rant that almost caused him to come to blows with audience members. That was just some standup gig at a club somewhere.

I'm convinced that Jones not only believes the basic government and conspiracy stuff, but a lot of the really crazy poo poo he talks about, too.

Not to quote myself, but I just noticed that in today's broadcast that Limbaugh basically played this entire caller segment back word-for-word. This could definitely be because of my local radio station and some other tomfoolery inbetween. However the possibility also exists that maybe he is really struggling for things to talk about today on his totally free and fair "Open-Line Friday". Or maybe I've listened to so much of this bile that I'm going crazy :supaburn:

EDIT: Now he's playing some poo poo from May 9, 2014 about Donald Sterling and then another longer segment about Eva Langoria. Wow. He honestly did start to have a program with new things to rage about! In particular, he bitched about the White House taking up the issue of sports concussions and whining about how he totally didn't have all of his adult listeners win him a children's book award. Curious if this will even be mentioned, because if not that is another layer of crazy.

Also looks like we've got our first major reporting on it:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/may/16/operation-american-spring-falls-flat-very-disappoi/

quote:

“This is very disappointing,” Mr. Milton said, speaking of the numbers who showed so far, while marching to the White House. “I’ve been taking to everybody for six months, telling them to come and telling them if it’s not realistic to get to D.C., … well then, go to your county courthouse [and protest].”

The weather likely delayed some from showing, he said. But as the sun comes out, and the weekend weather dawns balmy, more could show, he said.

“This isn’t just the one day thing,” Mr. Milton said. “Most of our group [126 from Texas] are going to stay most of the weekend. And when the bikers come in, there will much more. I know Connecticut’s here. I know Colorado’s here. I think Utah, maybe.”

He also said the some of the planned Operation American Spring members who were planning to head to Washington, D.C., instead traveled to Nevada, to give support to cattle rancher Cliven Bundy in his fight against the federal government over grazing fees.

“A lot that were supposed to come here went there instead,” Mr. Milton said.

Well that explains the millions of people surrounding the Bundy Ranch...err...wait.

He may be spending a little less time stalking secret societies, these days, but he has a lot on his plate.

I'm good friends with people in Austin that were at ACTV when he was there in the 90's and Jones certainly believes a few of the things he's into, like the stuff about Bohemian Grove, but there's no way he actually believes all the stuff that's happened since the 11th. Once he started selling thousands of DVDs and water filters, he made a conscience decision to chase that crowd just like Beck.

A true believer wouldn't be constantly taking over local protests just so that he can get face time. Dude is well known for rolling up at the anti-fed gatherings with a bullhorn and straight up talking over the people that put them together.
