I think his question was more about how porn, just like other media, creates standards and stereotypes about human relationships and behavior. Most of the porn I see seems to cater to male audiences, features women as constantly sexually available, and frequently cater to a fairly specific set of genre scenarios ( like a cheerleader audition or hitchhiker). This probably has a powerful impact on young men's ideas about women, as well as how sex works. He's asking DP if the impact is ever a negative one. Chill out, he's not condemning the OP or our precious porn.

Anyway.

I think the question is valid and I'm interested to hear the answer. Some of you people just freaked out that some guy on the internet dared to criticize pornography as a whole. All art can and probably should be critiqued. Adults can view pornography for what it is, but the extreme availability of streaming internet porn is definitely exposing tons of this stuff to children much sooner than was ever possible before, and that probably is going to have some unintended consequences for society. Let's face it, porn is a fantasy that is often very unlike real sex. I am a consumer of porn myself, but it makes me a little ill to think that hardcore pornography is probably how kids are learning about sex these days. I don't think anyone is saying that porn is The Problem, and darkpriest of all people is not going to be offended by a suggestion to explore this topic... I think he hates those porn-tube sites anyway.

So here's a real question I thought of while writing this post.

How does this work for the shoots out of country? I know I've seen male talent that does overseas stuff in eastern Europe, Philippines, Columbia and Brazil. Do the girls there get tested to normal US standards when a 'US' company goes there to shoot, or do they roll the dice?

The industry in the US has a much better testing system, where the performers tests are monitored by a group of doctors. They in turn determine if there are any issues that should result in the industry to halt shooting, as they did last year.

Europe does not have the same centralized testing. Instead they test at various labs and just show each other their results.

I shot in Europe last year and I went to a lab. It was very similar to how they do things here in the states. Drew my blood and took my urine and then the next day emailed me my results. The results were a little harder to read since I couldn't read the language, but I had a translator.

The battery of tests is still the same. Actually Europe was testing for Syphilis for a long time, before we were in the US.

Without wishing to come down on either side of the fence here, I think it's a little different to a kid finding his Dad's PB collection these days. With the ubiquity of internet access to youngsters, it's only too easy for your average 12 y/o boy to access hard/extreme pornography. I grew up in the days of 56k dialup, so it definitely wasn't so easy to access on a large scale, but it was still not that hard to find content. Now, though? A whole new ball-game.

One of the interesting things, though, is that I seem to remember reading somewhere that teen consumption of hard pornography produced by professional studios is on the decline. More and more, youngsters are using instant messaging apps on their phone to either access or solicit explicit content, often from their female friends. Getting into the reasons for that is an absolute can of worms, and definitely not right for this thread, but I do think it's an interesting shift. And, quite honestly, a sad one. Twelve year olds should be out playing in the backyard, not snap-chatting pictures of their genitals.

It's a weird world.

The only large scripts written are for the feature market. There used to be a group of script writers in the industry, but as features became less and less, they didn't have steady work.

The reality internet companies do write scene scripts. For example Brazzers has scripts for their scenes. Those are written in house and given to the crew.

How in any way is this comparable? Not trying to be this guy but comparing 2 extremes is easy, is not nearly all mainstream porn in which there is a man and woman pretty extreme? I mean you're just gonna tell me a guy/girl vanilla bang bros scene isn't usually pretty violent and degrading?

Not trying to say you're a bad person or anything, I mean I wouldn't blame a manager of a bank for enabling the rich and powerful but you do agree with this right?

Most porn is generally pretty brutal and places women as the targets. Yes, other poo poo exists like your porn for couples and everything, but the stuff your average 14-25 year old dude is watching online, it's not exactly healthy is it? Especially towards young teens? Yeah? Like, how many dudes these days want to cum on a girls face during oral sex? 90%? What were those figures 100 years ago? 10%? How many 15 year olds would be down for anal sex comparable to 15 year olds 50 years ago? Is this not because of porn?

In a void, in the hands of a mature adult, with reasonable values and ideals, porn can be consumed in a great way, but when you have millions of kids at this very instant having what would be seen as "extreme sex" normalized a great deal to them, including their images of women, this is not ok is it?

Again not trying to call you out, just your thoughts on this stuff. Thanks.

Edit: alright I really don't want to come off that way. I'll just summarize my post once more. DarkPriest, what to you are the negative aspects of pornography that don't affect you personally? Obviously Porn affects you because it's your meal ticket but do you think society handles it badly? Whether it's because the Internet is a recent discovery or maybe kids just have to much access to so much information at a young age, i don't know. What do you think?

Big fan btw, not of your porn I don't think I've ever seen you, but this is maybe the 3rd or 4th iteration of your ask/tell threads I've read and they're excellent! Thanks!

This thread has been somewhat derailed with this back and forth acrimony over this one posting.

Just to be clear, I don't expect everyone to like porn or view sex in the same way. Sex is highly personal and porn in many ways is highly subjective. What turns on one person could completely turn off another. Sex is complicated because it also deals with the things people go through in life. What turns you on at 18 and what turns you on 45 could be completely different as you experience different things in life and as your body ages.

I do agree with some of the other commentators that you did come across angry or upset in your post. It doesn't bother me. Again your entitled to your opinion. I don't want to turn the thread into debating the societal impact of porn.

My issue is you can't pick apart one aspect of porn and not accept that there exists a polar opposite of it. Here's a reality check for everyone. The most commercially successful product is not a man and a women having sex. Transexual porn and gay porn tends to be the big earners. In transexual porn the fetish is completely geared toward the TS dominating in some fashion the male. Femdom is also very popular and that involves everything from verbal degradation to the men being anally penetrated by the woman with a strap (pegging).

No one ever worries about men doing this stuff, but somehow there is this view that the women in the industry have to be protected. That somehow woman aren't able to take care of themselves. It reeks of "we know what is better for you". I hate that. The women in the straight industry are fantastic. They aren't helpless and incapable. Many of them are strong independent women.

The problem with living in a free society is that you sometimes have to defend something you don't like. Should children be accessing porn? No. But it falls on their parents to help them navigate the world. They shouldn't be smoking and drinking either or a host of other things.

I have to disagree that the average Bang Bros scene is degrading. I consider Bang Bros fairly vanilla. This is a company that won't shoot anyone under the age of 21 anymore. If you are bothered by Bang Bros, then I'm assuming most porn would bother you. Which is completely your right. No one should jump down your throat because you are bothered by the content. How you view sexuality is who you are.

I believe that sexuality is extremely complicated. We can't expect people to always fit nice and neatly into easily defined sexual relationships. Sex isn't always white picket fences and I love you's. There are people that legitimately love rough sex. Does everyone? Of course not. I wouldn't jump out of a plane, but lots of people love doing it.

I can also offer you a personal example. When I go down on a girl I get really turned on when she holds me down there and holds my head. When I eat out a girl from behind I get really turn on when they hold my head between there rear end. I don't know why. Might be because they are clearly turned on by it. I have trouble breathing, but in the moment I don't care and there is another element of sex. Things happen in the moment.

Let me also explain why I make porn. Right now there is some guy out there. He's married and got a family. He's over stressed and over worked. The wife takes off with the kids to run some errand and he's left alone for a couple of hours. Maybe he cracks open a beer and sits down and starts looking at some porn. For 10 minutes he lives out some sexual fantasy in his head that will never happen to him. After it's over he goes back to whatever his life is and that little personal escapade takes a bit of the edge off. Doesn't mean he's a bad husband or a bad farther. We all find ways to blow off steam. Think of the context of where I am even posting this. On an Internet message board where people anonymously spend countless hours insulting one another.

Porn is escapism, just like horror movies, Pro Wrestling and McDonalds. If you eat McDonalds everyday you will most likely get fat and be unhealthy. If you consume porn everyday you will most likely have problems with personal sexual relationships. Everything requires moderation. But sometimes you just want a loving cheeseburger and fries.

Now, how about we all try to get along.

Just regular folks. I know quite a few tradespeople who didn't join the various unions and prefer to do contract or short term gigs in addition their other work who build sets/machines for Kink. Some of them are into it in their personal lives and others arent bothered by the sexual content. They actually employ a pretty large full time team of people who work behind the scenes there. I've heard of a few ways. One is like the previous poster said, just plain urinating. Sometimes, the actress will drink a ton of water before the scene so it doesn't look to be urine.

Another way is to just use a syringe to just inject some fluid, probably water and then push it out. These ones are obvious as there will be a clearly noticeable camera cut and then BOOM! she's squirting.

Um. This doesn't really make any sense if you understand female anatomy. Female ejaculation comes out of the same hole as pee does. I think you might be mixing up creampies and squirting as I don't think that injecting liquid into your urethra is preferred to just peeing (which is what 95% of squirting porn is). I have actually never heard of that.
