Chatting w/ Capitol police; mixed between being slightly annoyed, or bemused and happy to get overtime.

At any point, there are about 10 people up on the Capitol balcony watching. All the actual congressmen have offices elsewhere, so it's not like they're under Boehner's window.

They sang the national once, and just finished Lee Greenwood "proud to be an american".

Even just marching from the Mall up to the Capitol, they lost easily half their crowd. I guesstimate well below 500 now.

At least part of the column appears to be marching/diddy-bopping/trundling down the hill, but a few are staying . Not sure what's the plan, or if they were ordered to disperse, or what. kinda anti-climactic, haven't even seen riot gear deployed.

I could never understand why "Proud To Be an American" has a special place in some peoples' hearts. I always thought it sounded like the "Like a Rock" Chevy commercials from the 90's. It's so cheesy and unexplainable. They even played it at my EGA award ceremony in the Corps. All I could think of was some aging contemporary soft rock singer and Chevy trucks.

It's weird. It's like on the same level as patriotic battle marches and historic folk songs to some people, and seemingly to a department of the Navy (or maybe just my crazy senior DI).

The food is sweet, salty, delicious, cheap and plentiful, and there is little or no infrastructure or incentive to walk anywhere, and all the manual labor jobs are done by illegals. Also the work hours are long. Being healthy is for the wealthy. If you are a blue collar schlub, you don't have time or inclination or company to make it to the gym during the work week, and your knees are probably shot from being fat anyway.

The amount of sugar in prepared food is past insane and into hilarious. Had an Azeri exchange student the other year who about flipped her poo poo after a week when she encountered honey mustard. "Your bread is cake, your meat is candied, and even the mustard!"

There is another factor to think of.

The State is very willing to attack and punish detractors, look at the IRS. Many are keeping their heads down.

And to be honest, this thing had an odd feel to it. I just couldn’t shake the feeling it was a false flag.

False flag, I agree. It was designed to fail from the start for the purpose of demoralizing the Tea Party movement ahead of elections. As if oppression by the IRS isn’t enough.

This is such a perfect example of "conservatism can't fail; it can only be failed.": because this demonstration failed, it MUST be a "false flag" because if it were real conservatives, it wouldn't fail.

Not only can they not fathom that there just isn't very many people who agree with them, but they can't even fathom that almost no one is even aware of the event. They really think that a false flag like this would mean anything, as though the whole nation was watching to see if they got their numbers out today. This couldn't be a "false flag" because it doesn't even embarrass anyone. No one is watching. We're only aware of this whole thing because we're the only people at this zoo watching these people.
