There was a dude wearing the old school white PT shirt, jeans, and a screaming high and tight today at the mall with his kids. Likely a reservist chief or first class. Just looked so loving silly and out of place.

The old school shirts had blue collars and sleeves. I can't find any pics online and I think I threw mine away years ago, so you'll just have to imagine how gay they looked.

Anything is better than the awful yellow shirt/Despicable Me minion outfit. The shorts are cool when you cut out the lining but gently caress that shirt. Terrible fitting, too. It's alright at least a blue undershirt w/navy shorts is the unauthorized unofficial PT uniform

I have never understood people that will not learn from junior Sailors or who are just stubborn assholes. Like last drill one of the new Ensigns was wearing black boots that were roughed out like the Army. I asked him, "Hey Sir, what's up with your boots?" as I don't believe in the whole "Being a Chief means chewing out people before asking questions". He said the regs had changed and, sure enough, for non-sea duty, you can wear them. I learned something new and we had a good talk; guy had 10 years active in the Air Force before getting his commission. I want to believe that it was the old school PT shirt, jeans, and rocking a mullet instead as that would make way more sense.

I'm reading in a paper trade publication that the Navy wants to have 50% of its shorebased power using green energy by 2020. Considering how obscenely more expensive some of this is than regular juice, it's pretty funny in the context of the "our barracks are moldy and collapsing and there's no money to fix them" talk. Disclaimer: I've personally profited from this

I like to think of it as the Navy, being a wing of the federal government, developing new technologies. Expensive at first, some will fail, but ultimately something insanely beneficial will come from it.

3 more to go for me. Some of the new people asked me why I do the bike instead of the run. Saying I breathe easier in the gym than out in the dust and stank of cow poo poo apparently isn't good enough. They were cracking jokes, and I'm the one laughing as they hack up a lung several feet away while I get ready to go lift. Also EMI officially over, and I'm flying under the radar because some other dudes screwed up.

I like seeing people decide they are going to do the machine and then not practicing at all until the PRT. I love watching the smug turn into pain (at least for those that are trying to do well on it). I'm a bike guy myself but I use it enough to know what resistance and RPM give me the best numbers. I do it because I have a bum knee but I think the filthy air at Lemoore is a plenty good reason to not run.

I did this for my last PRT but with the swim instead of the bike (also because of a bum knee), got my rear end thoroughly whipped and barely failed.
