One thing i dont understand is if the PT cruiser is basically a lifted, body kitted Neon, why dont you see more SRT-4 aftermarket goodies slapped onto them? Plenty of kids got them from dear old dead grandma or as a hand-me-down. If i saw a PT cruiser turbo on crazy boost putting out 500 horsepower, i'd absolutely lose it :D

The PT Cruiser has a much smaller, cramped engine bay due to the "retro-styled" nose. Packaging is difficult, and most PT owners aren't performance types anyway.

There are other platforms that used the 2.4 that don't have that restriction, though:

Here's my wife's Honda Metropolitan scooter. She wants it to go faster than 40 mph. So I have these two little JFS 100 jet engines and I am thinking how to put them on the scooter. Engines are 50 lbm each so weight is an issue. Will probably use air-start with a carbon fiber tank of compressed air. That saves weight since batteries will then not be needed.

The whole turbine power thing is cool, but wouldn't a 7.65 1/8th mile equate to something like 12 or 13 seconds in the quarter?

It probably keeps accelerating, so faster than that. Remember, the slowest part is the start :getin:

I think that is pretty respectable for a minivan, seeing as stock c6 vette owners (LS3) were posting 1/8th mile times in the mid 8s... and yeah, he was on the brakes for a lot of that run.

I wanted (still kinda do) a first gen Neon ACR so bad when I found out about them. For all the poo poo the Neon gets they really were a ton of fun to toss around, the only one I've driven was a clapped-out beater 5spd that I test drove at a buy-here-pay-here. Probably the most fun car I drove all day but it had too many issues.

Terrible car stuff: the interior of a modern Mini. I drove a Cooper S yesterday and while I found the seat decent and the drivability fine, it was full of awful plastic. It looked like this except LHD:

All that silver plastic? It's like the cheapest looking/feeling poo poo you've ever seen. I enjoyed *driving* it, but I didn't enjoy looking at the interior which was reminiscent of cheap Chinese toys. Everything creaked if you touched it, in that cheap plastic way.

Next time I see Clarkson tapping around an American car and complaining about how cheap/poo poo it feels, I'm going to have a hard time not yelling at the TV. "WHAT ABOUT YOUR HALLOWED loving MINI, YOU SILLY oval office?"

Now, the toggle switches for the windows, those were kind of cool I guess.

Holy christ, he says he likes it: http://www.topgear.com/uk/jeremy-clarkson/clarkson-mini-copper-s-2002-01-08 and yes, the 2002 version looks pretty much identical inside. Ah well, I don't really expect the man to have good car opinions, he mostly seems to make it up based on 1) Manufacturer name, 2) Country of origin, or 3) Contradicting what everyone expects him to say.
