Sentry kills himself in six turns. The animation during his yellow power looks like mid-air constipation. Outstanding.

Even if it weren't a matter of needing so many HP, ISO and covers, every new character they add makes the chance you'll get something you're looking for even smaller. At this rate there'll be another 20 or so new characters by the end of the year.

I wish, at least with all the 'lazy' versions coming out, they would let you convert covers somehow. Maybe like covert 5 red Thor (probably +Hero Points) to 1 red Lazy Thor or something. Or at least let us pick what gumball machine we put our Heroic coins.

He seems to be a character specifically designed to sell heal packs. :P He does a poo poo-ton of whole-team damage on both sides, and his green power actually seems pretty awesome at making lots of matches because the countdown tiles trigger one at a time. But yeah, overall, pretty crappy.

The game could do with a few more healing characters. OBW's 2* so she's common enough though. Anyway, what's known about Sentry at this point: Sentry (Dark Avengers) 3 Star Rarity (Rare) At level 15, HP: 1140 At level 77, HP: 4860 At max level, HP: ??? Supernova - 11 Red AP The Sentry projects an epic energy blast. Damages the enemy team for 189 before shattering up to 4 random Red tiles. Each tile damages the enemy team for 35 and allies for 35 but does not generate AP. This ability ends the turn. Level Upgrades Level 2: Damage to allies reduced to 28 per Red tile destroyed. Level 3: ??? Level 4: ??? Level 5: ??? (L77: 944 damage, destroys 9 Red tiles, 137 enemy damage & 72 friendly team damage per tile.) World Rupture - 7 Green AP Sentry flies into the heart of the battlefield, sending waves of kinetic energy rippling outward. Creates Green Countdown tiles that do 24 damage to enemies and 12 to allies. Level Upgrades Level 2: Reduces ally damage to 10. Level 3: ??? Level 4: ??? (L77: creates 12 Countdown tiles, 92 enemy damage & 34 friendly team damage per tile) Level 5: ??? (L77: creates additional Countdown tiles on extremities of the X pattern) Countdown tiles are created on a board-centered X pattern. Sacrifice - 8 Yellow AP The Sentry sacrifices himself for the good of the team. He takes 237 damage, but converts a random basic Yellow tile into a Strike tile with a strength of 59. Level Upgrades Level 2: Creates Strike tile with a strength of 65. Level 3: ??? Level 4: ??? (L77: inflicts 779 self-damage, creates 289 yellow Strike tile) Level 5: ??? (L77: reduces self-damage to 687, increases Strike tile strength to 355)

World Rupture is really easily countered by strike tiles. My Punisher got off two volleys of strike tiles, Sentry popped World Rupture, and then Sentry popped.

I've never noticed it on anyone else, but now I'm curious. I'll see if I can sucker an Ares into taking a swing at me. Update - ok, I was wrong, sort of. I just tested it again and it's a graphical bug. You know the big red negative number that pops up next to a character when you damage them? That displayed about -2000 worth of damage as all of the countdown tiles popped. However, the actual health bars of the hostile team went down normally. I guess when it happened the first time, Sentry was at low enough health that the effect killed him. Bob Socko fucked around with this message at 07:48 on May 20, 2014 |

His Yellow is pretty nice with OBW. Mega-boosts Espionage, and then she can heal him up. I see it only works that well when it's powered up a lot. It was good on the team-up mission though.

It doesn't really matter anyway. Unless you're a whale, the odds of you getting enough covers and iso to make him any good are astronomically against you. The most I'm hoping for is a few covers

This is kind of a vicious cycle. I missed out on Lazy Daken (and haven't lucked into one with tokens or hero points). Without him I can't do the special nodes, which lowers the likelihood of me getting a Sentry. And I imagine the new characters and special events requiring them will continue all summer. I can't be the only one who spends more time outdoors in the warm weather. Why didn't they push these out in the winter?

Already taking up a Pizza Goon slot as a filthy casual, but thanks for the offer! Also, as someone who's trying to make the switch from 1* to 2* I'd actually probably be willing to drop on HP to buy a few covers/slots to get started, but gently caress me if I'm going to drop $20. The amount of cash you need to drop to actually buy poo poo goes way beyond what I've seen from other free-to-play games. It honestly feels like I'm not making any headway at this point, but it's still pretty fun to play a few times a day while poopin' or before bed so I doubt I'll just give up any time soon. My other two choices were pretty much the same thing, and it's all I get if I skip. All that for 27 points too! I've only got one maxed 3-star character and I'm using a maxed 2-star plus whatever else they force me to use. Maybe once they finally nerf Spider-Man I'll stop getting these ridiculous goddamn brackets that make me hate everything ever. Also my only goal in the new event is to try and make Sentry kill himself, whether he be on my team or the enemy team. Sacrifice -> Sacrifice -> Sacrifice. Watching him emo himself to death is just too great. It's even better when the enemy uses his ability and then matches away the strike tile.

Patch, Doctor Doom and Loki are a surprisingly strong team if you can get the tiles needed before the other team. Doom generates blacks for Loki who negates the negatives of Patch raining hell down.

It sucks, but getting some competitive 3* characters is a marathon, not a sprint. You need about 10/13 covers to get a decent max level, which is going to take months anyway.

Syrinxx posted:Seriously gently caress this game That's the general opinion of new and old players right now. I just got hosed in the mouth in my final Season ranking. I was solidly in the Top 20 all month. If the event ended when it was supposed to, Sunday night, I'd have a top 25 prize of 20 heroic tokens. Since they hosed up their last patch they had to extend the tournament. Fine, add a few days. But don't change the loving ending time too! How is that fair? Since I actually have a job, I couldn't do the last minute rush and missed Top 25 by ONE SPOT. I get half the prize for twice the effort. Again, gently caress this game and gently caress D3.
